The campus at UCSC is the most beautiful of all the UC's. Built around a wilderness area, deer, racoons, squirrels and other woodsy animal share the campus with the students. The views from around campus are breathtaking. Students wander through redwood forest trails and meadows with deer grazing to classes. The gym and athletic fields look over the entire Monterey... Beautiful, prototypical Northern California campus. We went looking at schools for our high school junior.

The UCSC campus is set in one of the most beautiful locations of any campus in the US. Between the (second/third-growth) redwood forests among which the academic buildings are nestled and the expansive views of Monterey Bay from the lower part of campus, there's spectacular nature everywhere. The campus is on the side of a hill, with bridges across several... More

It's a gigantic 3,000 acre campus, surrounded by redwoods and natural reserve of another 10,000 acres on the edge of Santa Cruz. Easy walk to get there, but poor signage to tell you were to go! Map it out and take a tour!

Went on a tour of the campus on our own. Very friendly and helpful people everywhere we went. Looks like a fun place to go to school.

It's a beautiful campus with breathtaking vistas and redwood pathways. It feels serene and peaceful and yet is filled with bustling students giving it a vibrant and alive feeling. If you're considering schools in California, or you just want to experience the beauty of the outdoors, check out UCSC.

UC Santa Cruz is a great destination for explorers! If your passion lies within academics or nature, you will be sure to find it in the Santa Cruz foothills. I recommend devoting the whole day to see what the campus and it's surroundings have to offer. The campus is friendly to visitors by day, but campus security officers make their... More

This rating is strictly for UCSC as an "attraction." If you've never been there and decide to visit on a whim like we did, make sure you have a map. We thought there would be more signs or campus maps. Somehow we ended up lost in the forest, mostly without cellphone reception. After an hour and a half of winding... More

Our top priority in coming to Santa Cruz was to visit the UC campus for my daughter. I arrived early and decided to drive through the campus, but I thought I made a wrong turn when I entered the forest. After driving a short distance, we drove through some of the many colleges comprising the university. It is a beautiful... More
