I loved the redwood forest setting. The Grateful Dead archive in the library is totally unique. There is bus service all over campus because parking is almost non-existent and it is a long walk to get anywhere. Most "undeveloped" campus in the entire UC system. Definitely worth a visit. Go to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center down at the Beach... More

Worth the drive up High St. and into the campus on a sunny day for a view of the entire Monterey Bay. But beyond the view, the campus is pretty amazing. It is the most "un-campuslike" campus I have ever seen. Winding roads, up and down hills; buildings nestled in the redwoods...it's pretty cool.

When you think of a college in a surfer town, this is not what comes to mind. Inside, you drive up a long winding drive, through open meadows and then into a thickly forested area. The university is not laid out like a traditional college with a central square and stately brick buildings. instead the various colleges are tucked amongst... More

Why not drop by and show the kiddies the campus? We did! The campus was alive-students walking through the woods to get to class, and riding on the campus bus. My kids even saw the Greeks out doing their thing, left my kids wondering if they'd have to learn Greek in college😂Funny! They even made a connection with Monsters University.... More

UC Santa Cruz is a nice college in the forest. For many that is a draw to go to school in a quiet peaceful college close to the ocean and surfing. It has a nice arboretum. The college has good activities. In terms of the University of California campuses it is a "lesser" campus. It is not world leader like... More

UCSC is one of those places that needs to be experienced. Pictures don't do it justice. Not only the architecture but the location and the views. If you're in Santa Cruz. Go up to the campus. You'll be glad you did. Stop by the Arboretum.

Beautiful campus, but very hilly and difficult to get around to class. Parking is not central so use of a car impractical. Very hard for disabled to navigate. Housing pricey as well.

Breathing views from the college campus that feels like a National Park! You can hike through redwood forests and look down upon the scenic Monterey Bay. All for the cost if parking your car. Or bike, walk or ride the city metro bus onto campus. Also visit the Botanical Gardens. Make sure to stand near the Porter College Sqiggle at... More

With the Banana Slug as their mascot, one should not be surprised that this college campus is going to be extremely unique - but certainly well worth a visit. There is a large sign when you enter the campus, but, for the first 1/2 mile or so, you begin to wonder if you've taken a wrong turn. All you can... More

My son is graduating in June from UCSC so I have had the chance to wander a bit. Unless you park the car and walk the paths I think you cannot begin to appreciate the majesty of the place. I was also disappointed by much of the architecture, but by perusing the walking paths, I was overcome by how grounding... More
