The first time I visited this place I tried to befriend the owner so he would bequeath me the place. I am still working on that. I am a local and come here every year. Usually in the spring, but they have great stuff year round. This is not your fancy boutique nursery. This is an engrossing hands-on sensory overload... More

Whether you like orchids or not, you should plan a visit here. They ship worldwide and are extremely well known. I've had friends from elsewhere ask me to bring them here. No one will bother you as you wander through the enormous variety of species, but if you have a question they are most willing to help.

There a lots of beautiful flowers both inside and outside. It was better than a lot of formal gardens I have paid to tour. I'm now officially in love with orchids, can't wait to choose some for display in my home!

This place is amazing! I couldn't believe how many different orchids they had, it was like a maze walking up and down all the aisles. We had a bit of a traumatic incident involving a spider and a tiny bird's nest, but that just speaks to the jungle-like quality of the place, haha! My favorites were some of the really... More

I feel a bit guilty promoting this place on a travel website because really it is a business, not a tourist attraction. The owners were friendly and allowed us free range inside the greenhouse. The flowers are all really beautiful and if you are an orchid fan, definitely check it out. Even better if you want to buy one (which... More

For the first time in my life i've seen lots and lots of orchids in one place, its like a forest, only you see beautiful different colors and shapes (petals) of orchids. Its like you're in a fantasy land, unbelievable.Really really nice place to visit. The best time to come here is the month of March. Make sure, you bring... More

Orchid lovers will not need to read this or any other review re Santa Barbara. The town is one of America's major orchid producers and the SB show one of the largest in the nation. SB Orchid Estate is one of the larger growers in town and since we have limited experience it is perhaps not the most interesting or... More

It'll be hard for you to leave with just one selection, as they will all excite you with spectacular color and shape! A reviewer mentioned $10 to $20 orchids at their local supermarket, but these usually... More

At one time, Santa Barbara County growers held a rare stock in trade, orchids that couldn't be found elsewhere. In recent years, importer sand large scale local growers have flooded the market, so that anyone with $10-$20 can find a beautiful orchid at a local retail supermarket. SB Orchid Estate, one of the early hybridizers, doesn't even try to compete... More
