Visited on my birthday many years after my wife and I had visited during our honeymoon. Much had changed. $15 dollar tastings were higher than the $10 dollars now normally charged by wineries in San Luis Obispo County. If you bought a bottle, the fee was still $15. If you do buy a bottle, bring your own opener because they... More

We visited Gainey on a group wine tour. I would go back for the beautiful grounds, having a picnic under a large old shade tree. The tour included great knowledge about the Santa Ynez Valley and why it is prime for Pinot Noir, and how each grape grows in each unique micro climate in this valley.

If you're in the Santa Ynez area and doing the wine tasting tour, be sure to visit the Gainey Winery. It's a bit off the main winery route but they have beautiful grounds and a terrific tasting room where you are surrounded by old barrels and candles. Don't race through your tasting, take that glass of wine outside and enjoy... More

As members, we try to get to Gainey as often as possible. With dogs, and children in tow, we went over there last Sunday and spent the afternoon on the premises picnicking on the grassy area. The tasting masters making tasting the wine even that much more enjoyable.

My wife and I are members of many wine clubs and usually prefer reds. We stopped here a few years back and fell in love with their white wines. We become members and have never had a bad experience at Gainey. They have a members tasting room, however it is a much more leisuerely expereince then the regular tasting room.... More

This place was extremely busy when we arrived. The tasting tables were lined with people with no room in between. The tasting master took notice and worked us into the mix without skipping a beat. Impressive! The wines were good and we took the last tasting with us to the picnic area outside to drink with the food we brought... More

This was the first stop on our wine tour, it was post card pretty. We had lunch out on the grounds. I'm not a pro on wines, but the experience was interesting. It takes 2500 grapes to make a bottle of wine.

This was my first ever visit to a vineyard and first testing of wines. The experience was pleasant and enjoyable. The wine taster was very helpful and explained us the nuisances very carefully. Was worth a stop at the vineyards.

One of the most beautiful vineyards in the area, the large verity of wines, my favorite is the Pinot Noir. You can bring your own lunch & cheese spend few hours on the property where park tables & benches are available. Very professional and friendly staff, gorgeous wine testing rooms.

We went when the winery was almost empty and really enjoyed our semi private tasting. Then we wandered through the vineyard for a while before purchasing a glass of wine to enjoy on the grounds with salami and cheese. It was very relaxing and we made the most of that, lingering for quite a while in the picnic area. Some... More
