This winery is beautiful. I love the barrel room and back rooms that are now used for tasting. This time there was more merchandise set up which took away from the feel and charm that it previously had. I've been tasting here since 2004. It's usually the first stop because after driving up from OC, I'm ready to hit a... More

An absolute must is the merlot. The service was OK and I didn't feel like the people serving didn't stand out. The merlot was one of the best I've ever had. Great body and full flavored. I feel like the set up for the tasting could have been better but the atmosphere was really nice

Our wine guide, Aaron, was super. Made our wine tasting fun and educational. He personalized his approach to wine and drew us into the conversation. We enjoyed the wine very much along with its gift shop.

Gainey Vineyards was a lovely first stop on our wine tour of the area. The vineyard itself is lovely and picturesque with beautiful trees lining the drive and a gorgeous private event space in the back. Aesthetically the space inside and out was designed well and brought the brand to life. The tasting room had a cozy warm feel with... More

We bought a bottle of white wine and had a picnic outside. The views and surroundings are truly amazing. Very sweet and knowledgeable people at the winery. Gave us a free sip to try out our wine.

We drove up to Gainey Vineyards for the afternoon from Santa Barbara and had a lovely time--it was a quick 30 minute drive with beautiful scenery and the wine was fantastic! We did the tasting and then bought a bottle, along with some cheese and crackers at sat outside to enjoy the weather and the wine. The merlot was our... More

This micro vineyard is amazing. The grounds are beautiful and the staff respect both the surrounds and the environment and their wines taste great. They also sell speciality vinaigrettes, we took some of the tangerine one home. Around the grounds, their are old barns that have been used in Hollywood movies. This place is really charming and worth a visit.

Visited on my birthday many years after my wife and I had visited during our honeymoon. Much had changed. $15 dollar tastings were higher than the $10 dollars now normally charged by wineries in San Luis Obispo County. If you bought a bottle, the fee was still $15. If you do buy a bottle, bring your own opener because they... More

We visited Gainey on a group wine tour. I would go back for the beautiful grounds, having a picnic under a large old shade tree. The tour included great knowledge about the Santa Ynez Valley and why it is prime for Pinot Noir, and how each grape grows in each unique micro climate in this valley.

If you're in the Santa Ynez area and doing the wine tasting tour, be sure to visit the Gainey Winery. It's a bit off the main winery route but they have beautiful grounds and a terrific tasting room where you are surrounded by old barrels and candles. Don't race through your tasting, take that glass of wine outside and enjoy... More
