RSM was in surprisingly good shape considering how it's suffered from the drought. Late spring rainstorms have brought the tees and fairways back to life [the greens have always been in excellent shape]. The course staff informed us they have some water in their reservoir to get them through the next couple months, so if you're interested in playing RMS,... More

The staff at this golf course are the friendliest and sincerely nicest people we've ever encountered in our golf careers so far. :) The course is lovely, yes the grass is dormant in places, but not dead, and it doesn't affect your game, the scenery is beautiful and it's so tranquil and quiet. We saw a lot of wildlife during the... More

This is a well laid out golf course within 30 minutes of Montecito and Santa Barbara. Unfortunately, they have been killed by drought conditions. Call first, to see if they have grass (they have not in recent months). If they have grass, could be great. As is, go elsewhere. But very nice staff!!

I lived on San Marcos Ranch when I was 10 years old. My Dad was Mr. and Mrs. Odell's chauffer. This was way before it became a golf course. It was a working ranch with cattle and horses as well as alfalfa and oat hay. It was old, but still functioning. I learned how to ride a horse, bail hay,... More

Potentially a very nice course but it needs water on the fairways in the worst way. Great layout and scenery and the greens were in great shape but the fairways were like the runway at the airport. Staff was friendly and engaging! With green fairways it would rate as potentially outstanding. Also they have a great app!

We booked tee times for this course through a "stay and play" package with a hotel. The golf course failed to let the hotel staff know that the course is dead (except for the greens). We had planned our entire day around our round of golf, drove all the way up to the course and were shocked to see the... More

Great course. Great layout. Great greens. Great service. Good food. Fairways are are completely dead and brown and hard as concrete. They have a water shortage. Course is still very playable though and well worth reduced rates.

While in Santa Barbara for a wedding, we decided mix in some golf. Looked on Trip Advisor and saw that this course was well rated, checked the website and it looked like an outstanding course. WRONG!!!! Took the winding uphill 15 mile journey from town to this course, apparently they have had a major drought the past 2 years, so... More

A relatively short course that will punish wayward shots, particularly on the back nine. But the views are remarkable and the sense of being in the ranch country make it a remarkable place to play. Gets very hot in the summer and can be very windy in the afternoon. The barbecue tri-tip sandwich is one of the best in a... More

While on business in the area we decided to take a golf break. This was one of 2 recommended for this area. The views from around 11 thru about 16 were breathtaking. Lunch at the clubhouse and unlimited range balls helped to pass a couple of hours since we were very early. Would definitely play this course again
