The drive from Ventura CA to Santa Barbara was a nice 25 mile drive with beautiful views of mountains, ocean and beaches. We stopped at many little shops along the way and was amazed by all the campers along HWY 1 near the Pacific ocean.

My family and I are nerds and we enjoy driving around looking at scenery and all the beautiful houses in California. The drive is fairly short so it won't take up much of your time if you're in need of a little break.

If this is your first visit to the area, this is a great place to start! You can get a feel for the influence of the sun, surf, mountains and the rich cultural history and diversity that shaped the area, which is an odd mix of rural and urban: Upscal adn moving, but also laid back and earthy.

Amazing views of our Pacific Coast and Santa Barbara Beaches. Get your butts off the highway, cruse into town, have a nice lunch and enjoy the scenery!

On the way to Dutch town Solvang, we drove past Santa Barbara coast line & it was a beautiful scenic drive. As it was a cold wintry season, there was hardly anyone swimming in the sea. Santa Barbara itself had some nice shopping complexes & there were skating rinks for youngsters to show off their skills.

While in Santa Barbara, we stayed at the Fess Parker Resort. The resort itself was very nice, we had a "casita" which was a large studio with a back patio with an ocean view. The price of the resort was expensive however, over $300 per night, plus a parking fee. While in Santa Barbara we took 2 drives. One to... More

Head east from downtown and wander up the hills and work your way north. Fun old California houses, canyons, and with any luck you'll come out at the old mission. If you have no luck, turn your gps on that let it lead you back. Forgot to put in an address to return to in Santa Barbara? Put in almost... More
