Description: The Lobero is California's oldest, continuously operating theatre...
The Lobero is California's oldest, continuously operating theatre. Originally founded in 1873 and rebuilt in 1924, it is recognized as one of Santa Barbara's architectural jewels and a State and City landmark. It is the home stage to most of the major performing arts groups in Santa Barbara including Opera Santa Barbara, State Street Ballet, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, Speaking of Stories, Sings Like Hell, CAMA’s Masterseries, Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, Flamenco Arts Festival, Santa Barbara Theatre, Music Academy of the West, and many others. In addition to operating the venue for the community's use, the Lobero Theatre Foundation presents 20 Lobero LIVE performances each season to enhance the performing arts environment in Santa Barbara. The Lobero Live series brings touring artists that enrich the cultural offerings available, focusing on genres which are most suitable for the hall’s intimacy and acoustics, including jazz, blues, bluegrass and folk. The Lobero Theatre has recently been named one of the best jazz venues in the world by leading jazz magazine, DownBeat.

If you are traveling to Santa Barbara and want to spend an evening listening to music, try tickets to events at the Lobero Theater. The Lobero offers concerts just about year round (although the Summer months are the most active.) The Lobero recently underwent an extensive renovation and is a genuinely pleasant facility for enjoying an evening out.

Gorgeous historic music theater - sound is great, the ambiance luxurious and Spanish.... love it for our Jazz Concerts, dance performances and the like.

A smaller venue, where every seat is good. Wonderful for smaller scale performances when you want to feel a part of the production.

This is a very pretty theatre. Good acoustics. My life being what it is, attended a political event here. Oh well...

So intimate! I have been all over the world and this is one of the more intimate settings. The theater is beautiful, a lot of charm and still very tasteful. It has been restored but not too much as they often are! It is a must go to for a show

Historic 600 seat theater, remodeled this summer. Nothing like it anywhere I have seen. All types of events. #1 SB spot to experience an event like it is being held in your own home

Beautiful place. Just the right size, comfortable, good sound. If they build it they will come. But you need to let people know what is playing. We just happen to come a cross a small blurb on the musicians web site.

The Tuesday CAMA concerts are amazing, they have had Lang-Lang and many other stellar classical performers. I have seen several Beethoven piano concertos performed there. Really good acoustics and caring people

Long ago I saw Donavan here. That is the kind of show you want to see. Legends and all intimate seating. A wonderful theater.

It was great to see a show in this location, but even better that it is, apparently, one of the oldest continuously operating theatres in California. The theatre is beautiful and right in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, so very convenient.
