Picture this: a paddling tour that would satisfy the most discerning naturalist, a campsite nestled in a eucalyptus grove and delicious meals you only had to heat up or lunches you simply unwrapped! I called Channel Islands Outfitters and with one call they set up a 3 day trip for us - transportation to the island and a paddling adventure... More

So, I will start by saying that this portion of our 3 day camping adventure was all my significant other's idea. I am not in great physical shape and though I've taught canoeing in the past, I was not prepared for this experience. That being said, I had a fantastic time, even after the kayak/ocean tried to kill me! Our... More

We talked with two different outfitters and are glad we went with Channel Islands Outfitters. They handled all the details over the phone, including the ferry tickets and catered lunch options (the food was great). When we arrived at Scorpion Ranch on Santa Cruz Island, there were 3-4 other outfitters with clients getting ready near us. We were geared up... More

The whole trip was pretty fun. This doesn't have anything to do with the tour but we hiked up to the radio towers on Saturday and kayaked Sunday. JD was our tour guide and stopped by our campsite in the evening. We had dinner together and he gave us a bit of what to expect on Sunday. The tide was... More

I can't emphasize enough what a great time we had on our trip to Santa Cruz island with Channel Island Backpackers. Our kayaking guide JD was funny, responsible and informative. He took us kayaking through gorgeous caves around the island, and was able to answer all our natural history questions about the island along the way. I would definitely use... More

This was an incredible trip from start to finish. We (group of 3) were met at the dock with a warm welcome from J.D. Saw hump back whales on way over. Ferry stayed as long as they reasonably could so we could watch it breech many many times. Awesome! Once off ferry J.D. casually walks us through what to do... More

If you are booking a trip to the Channel Islands for the day (or even a camping trip) with Channel Islands Outfitters, I highly recommend ordering your food from them. It's such an easy way to get great meals to compliment your trip to the islands. Here's our experence: Nine of us went on a day trip to Santa Cruz... More

I went on their Caves and Coves kayaking trip of 2.5 hours on a relatively calm, beautiful day. Mike and Bjorn split us into two groups of only 3-4 boats - sit on top singles and doubles. Mike was a great leader, getting a good handle on the various skill levels and personality of his group and shaping the tour... More

Look no further! There may be other options for kayaking tours, but don't bother. Channel Island Outfitters had everything covered. When we first called to inquire about the trip, we talked to Matt and he was very helpful, answering all of our questions. We booked the trip and our ferry tickets together and it was very convenient. I'm not sure... More
