Transportation to Santa Cruz begins with a ferry ride on Island Packers Ferry (tickets can be purchased though Channel Island Outfitters or separately). The ferry ride is a little over an hour, and can get rough. The ferry does stop for wildlife--we saw humpback whales and common dolphins. CIO has a check in for their tours on the lawn in... More

Did the kelp and cave combo. Both were excellent adventures! Guides were awesome - very helpful and informative. We had a wonderful time. Even got in a short hike that led to a great views of the entire Scorpion Ranch area.

The trip was great from the start to the finish (except for the boat ride over to Santa Cruz Island because the ocean was very rough). The information received before the trip made everything very clear as to what we needed to take, etc. The check in staff was friendly and informed. The captain of the boat was great and... More

I went on the Kelp and Cave Combo tour with Ben. He was an excellent guide and very helpful and supportive. I found his knowledge of the natural world to be excellent. He was very patient and encouraging and both the snorkeling and the kayaking portion of the trips were just extraordinary! My only suggestion would be that CIO could... More

My wife and I booked with Channel Island Outfitters for a day trip to the Channel Islands, specifically the Cave and Kelp Combo which combined guided sea kayaking amongst the caves along the shore with guided snorkeling in the nearby kelp beds. We booked the ferry trip through CIO as well, which made for a smooth process - we just... More

It was a perfect day for a kayaking tour. Water was warm and weather was perfect. We went on a tour of the caves and everyone in my group was amazed by the scenery and our tour guide Phil. All staff were very fun and courteous making sure we were all happy. The lunch they provided was very good which... More

We took the half day sea cave tour with CIO. It was a perfect day for kayaking - good visibility and calm waters. The guides provided all the necessary instructions we needed to know before heading out into the water and also let us practice some maneuvers that would come handy during the adventure. Some of the caves are really... More

We were novice kayakers, but trusted Chuck, our terrific Guide, to get us through a dozen different water caves and caverns without a scratch. Really beautiful and unique part of the California coast. This is one for your bucket list!

If you'd like to visit Channel Islands, CIO is the way to go. We had a great experience. We camped overnight under a giant eucalyptus tree, watched a great sunset, hiked the island, did the caves and kelp combo tour with our guide Matt. We even splurged on the food package because I thought it would just make everything easier... More
