must see and go to the top! amazing view! Travel n the trolley for only fifty cents and you even get a transfer for that price. The courthouse is a must see!
Inside of the courthouse is spectacular. The main council room is special, and should not be missed. The elevator to the top of the Bell Tower is great and gives you a 360 view, also one floor down is the glass enclosed clock mechanism, fun to watch and video the action...
I had never heard of the Santa Barbara County Courthouse, so wondered why my brother-in-law was taking us there. This place was fantastic! We had a wonderful tour guide (tall, he reminded me of John Wayne) for about 6 people. He knew so much, was so interesting. We covered the building, inside & out. No rush. We visited the library,... I was taken aback to find Trip Advisor saying that the County Courthouse to be the #1 of 67 attractions in Santa Barbara. Then I went, and I completely agree: if you care about beautiful gardens, love a scenic view, or even more if you love architecture, this is the finest attraction in town. What an interesting and beautiful place. Our daughter got married in the garden here and it was stunning. Great wedding shots and great ambience. It is such an impressive building. Our guest wandered through the building after the ceremony. The archway is great area for photos.

Bonus points for being an actual working courthouse, and not just a museum piece. Don't see what the fuss is about the sunken gardens, but otherwise enjoyed my brief visit.... More
Very impressive! You must do the free tour with a docent. They tell you a lot of tidbits about the history of the building and Santa Barbara. Also, don't forget to go up in the tower to see the view. Incredible!

Directions around our "West Coast" city be a bit confusing, since Santa Barbara sits on an extension of land that leaves the ocean on the South. Add to that the fact that the main streets of Santa Barbara run diagonally, and the "Eastside" and "Westside"... More
This amazing building was built after the 1925 earthquake in Santa Barbara. It combines Spanish and Moorish architecture and has many quirky and whimsical designs. There is historic artwork in the hallways and Mural Room. Don't miss the clock tower in which you can see the inner-workings of the courthouse clock and see spectacular views from the observation deck. (No... More
