In all the times I had been to Santa Barbara, I had never been to its Number One attraction. Shame on me. Because it's stunning! The views from the observation deck are 360 degrees, and on a clear day you really can see forever. However, the building itself is worth lingering over: the tile work is impressive, as are the... We loved the grounds and the overall look of the building. We did not take a formal tour. The view from the upper floor tower is worth the visit. Great views of the city, mountains, and ocean if you visit on a clear day. We walked up the stairs. About 4 or 5 flights but an elevator is available. The... More

Beautiful grounds, maintained well, views and important reminder of CA history. The drive along the way and through the city make for a nice afternoon trip. Worth a visit.

I've visited the Santa Barbara Courthouse maybe a dozen times over the past 30 plus years. It is a beautiful building, in many ways the heart of Santa Barbara, whose architectural plan embraces the pre-1925 Spanish Colonial style. The building houses many of the functional offices of the county, including the hall of records and several working courtrooms. Wandering around... More

I must admit that I thought it a bit strange that the local courthouse was the number 1 rated attraction. we walked among the grounds for a while and then went inside. we saw that a tour had started 10 minutes earlier. the woman at the desk told us they just got started so we were able to join it.... 1) Tours here are free, but only on certain days and at certain times of day. 2) We went in November 2015 and at that time the tours were held daily at 2:00 PM and at 10:30 AM Monday through Friday. Tours of the gardens were available by appointment, as well as special tours and youth tours. Call 962-6464 for... More

The view from the clock tower was amazing, but the history recorded on the beautiful walls and the information shared in the clock room topped the chart!
