I am a native Californian. I have lived about twenty miles from the Santa Ana Zoo for all of my seventy two years and have never visited this splendid place. The zoo is laid out with paths going through the displays, trees and bamboo. The paths are decomposed granite so there is a country feel about it. There are plenty... More

This is not your traditional zoo - it's better. If you are looking for a shady, peaceful, mellow spot to take your family for an afternoon that is low priced and fun, you've found it. Some of my best famly photos have been taken here - the light is beautiful and the monkeys (they are required by deed to have... More

Cute little zoo - very clean - a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Be sure to check out the Howler monkeys who love to make a commotion in the morning - the bird exhibit was also very nice.

This zoo caters to small children (10 and under), and a family membership is about $75 per year for 4. We go often with our young grandchildren and they love the playground, carousel, train, and all the monkeys. The zoo gets the land free from a trust by guaranteeing they will have at least 50 monkeys all the time. Most... More

If you don't mind not seeing your lions, tigers, and bears, this is a good zoo. We took my 4 year old son, and it was just the right pace for him. Most of the animals are easy to see close up, whereas at the larger zoos there is so much space between the park attendees and the animals. My... More

This is such a wonderful place to spend the afternoon. My daughters have always loved riding the train and watching the animals. There is a small restaurant and a cute shop.

Great place for summer kids' programs. Evey summer they're had at least one program that my sons really liked.

Unless you are particularly interested in seeing the ape collection or the giant anteaters, you may be disappointed by the overall experience. While the zoo folks have done a lot with the relatively small amount of available space, many of the cages are enclosed with dense-mesh fencing that does not lend itself well to photography. A lot of the cages... More

Quaint zoo with interesting exhibits. Small crowds. Lots of families with small children enjoying all the sights.
