The Kidseum is a separate building from Bowers Museum and is a building dedicated to children's interests. Our grandchildren enjoyed the costumes, making pictures, having their faces painted (one a butterfly and the other a cheetah) as well as the history and artifacts. You should know, too, that THERE IS FREE PARKING in the back of the building. We all... More

We've been visiting the Bowers for many year. They do an excellent job of creating standing exhibits and special shows that are interesting and informative. They tend to focus on the Pacific rim (Asia and parts of South America for instance) and the shows are always first class. If you're interesting at looking at unique historical artifacts, this is the... More

Rated the number 1 attraction in Santa Ana on Trip Advisior, and I now know why. The Museum is spacious and has several large exhibs. The museum is easy to navigate and allows you to move from exhibit to exhibit with out much backtracking. There appears to be a number of traveling exhibits that come to this museum. Be sure... More

Our Orange County friend is a docent at this museum. We arranged to meet her at the museum after her tour of duty was finished and she took us through the animal mummy exhibit herself. Afterwards, she showed us the notebook of information that is provided to docents to increase their knowledge of the current exhibit. We also toured the... More

I'd heard about the Bowers Museum because that's where American Research Center in Egypt / Orange County lectures are held, but I'd never been there. That changed when my girlfriend and I visited to see the Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt exhibition and to hear Dr. Salima Ikram's lecture Manufacturing Divinities: Creating Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt. This... More

I love the intimate size of this fine museum. It is truly one of the best museums in Southern California and has a constantly changing variety of important displays.

I have been going to the Bowers for years but did not know this annex existed It is 2 blocks away and has lots of craft, interactive and educational activities for kids under 10 years old. When we walked in the door, the docent said " you can touch everything in this building", music to Livia's ears! My grand daughter... More

My original review discussed the Bowers in general. Following are exhibit-specific reviews of the temporary installations (“ongoing” ones not included) which I saw during my most recent visit: Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt (closes 6/15). This was pretty interesting, as I had no idea that ancient Egyptians spent so much time mummifying animals. I believe everything comes from... More

Suggest you go to the Discovery Science Center and then drive the short distance over to the Bowers Museum and have lunch at their wonderful cafe!

This is a very well kept museum. It was founded in 1936 by the City of Santa Ana through a bequest from Charles and Ada Bowers, the Bowers Museum is one of California's finest and Orange County's largest museums. So much to see and learn about. You could spend hours here enjoying the beauty and history of what they present... More
