Small, but well maintained museum, which features interesting exhibitions. We've enjoyed the film costume installation, an exhibit featuring Maurice Sendak and other such displays. It's generally uncrowded.

This museum has so much to offer. Early California art, a children's museum, national and many international exhibitions. The exhibitions change frequently so check before going. The best time to go is the first Sunday of the month, which has a changing celebration of a particular culture. One month Japanese, or Indian,Irish, Russian etc. With dancing performances, music, costume, food samples and... More

I've lived in Orange County, California for over forty years, and had never been to this museum. I kept reminding myself to go, but this is one of those things I "just never got around to". It was time for that to end. So, one beautiful Thursday afternoon my wife and I went to the Bowers. I must say that... More

We often come to visit family in the area but despite knowing about the Bowers, we never managed to get there until now. Boy, are we sorry and are we sure we'll be back. Excellent permanent collection, fascinating special exhibits of Pacific Island and Chinese artifacts. We spent a couple hours and wished for more time. The Museum shop has... More

We have been here several times now - the museum is very nice and they have had some very interesting exhibits there. Our most recent visit was when they had the Van Cleef and Arpels (sp?) exhibit - we were with friends and both wives loved it (not to mention that there was enough interesting information on how they make... Very interesting exhibits that change frequently; check before you visit. Bowers is small enough you can do justice to most exhibits in a half day. It has an excellent restaurant to relax and extend you visit through the lunch hour. Parking is convenient across the street with a modest charge. Highly recommend.

The grounds of the Bowers Museum and the buildings themselves are lovely, illustrating beautiful Colonial Spanish architecture. There is a great gift shop that offers a wide array of unusual items, including unique jewelry....great place to look for a special gift, off the beaten path. Exhibits change , of course, but I most enjoy the mineral displays, and relics of... More

This was our first time at Bowers Museum. Very good first-class place. Very outstanding exhibits. We were here with friends to see a special exhibit, China's Lost Civilization, which we were not aware of, and wanted to see. The other exhibits were also good, but we all enjoyed the Ancient Arts of China the most, as there was the most... More

The Bower Museum is thought to be the best museum in Orange County and I would agree. I particularly wish to highlight the outstanding exhibit LOST CIVILIZATION THE MYSTERY OF SANXINGDUI, a Chinese civilization which was completely unheard of until its archaeological discovery in 1986. The culture with it fantastic bronzes existed 1200 BCE. 24 of the 120 extremely rare... More
