I spent 3 days at 2 nights at the Washburn loop of the San Simeon State Park campground. I called to make reservations because I found the website to be a bit confusing and I wanted to make sure we got a site in the Washburn loop and not in the lower part of the campground which looked to be... Can't say enough positive things about this park. We go here often because it's so close to home, my husband likes it so well (as do I), it's by the ocean (but NOT oceanfront), it's clean, and it's a very good choice for those who want to travel up the CA coast to visit the Big Sur Area or Monterey... Rangers at check in friendly and courteous We were assured this was a family orientated park not so much from our experience. We were there 3 days with each day getting worse.. It appeared that the locals who did have 2 small kids decided to cram 5 vehicles and way over the 8 limit per campsite and party loud and... More

My wife and I stopped here for just one night on our way to San Fran. We had made reservations prior but there was no one in the booth when we arrived. You take a card, pick a site, fill it out and submit your payment. We just wrote in the reservation number and called it a day. The toilets... More

Had a wonderful time here with my husband and Dog. I also recommend if traveling with pets to stay at the Silver Surf hotel. Very very pet friendly and affordable. This place is beautiful and We will be back.

Pretty view of the ocean and easily accessible. My wife, who loves oceans and beaches, was taken with it. She dipped her feet in and said the water was freezing cold. I'm more of a woods person myself so I was kind of meh about it.

On our recent car camping trip from LA to San Francisco, my husband and I stopped here for one night. It was our least favorite site. Although everyone was very friendly and helpful, the portable toilets were a detraction. Other primitive camping sites on our route had outhouses...which were much better than what we had at San Simeon. The black... More
