Nice camp ground. Most spots were already taken but we were still able to find a nice spot. If #15 is available you should jump on that one. We were in the lower camp and it was an easy walk to the ocean but I think the upper camp is a bit of a trek. The sites are pretty close... More

We stayed in the non-primitive sites and had plenty of shade, privacy and greenery. Kids can bicycle around the campground or down to the beach. The walk to the beach is short and passes through where San Simeon Creek meets the ocean. Lots of wildlife including Western Pond Turtles, blue herons, great egrets and more. There is a walking trail... More

I was very unsure about this place because of the reviews I read, I went on a very busy weekend and I loved it! Not any of the other campers were loud and partying like the reviews I read, It was clean and close to the beach I woke in the middle of one night and could hear the waves... More

We found this park to be very close to Hearst Castle and Cambria and other attractions. The park is a bit old and doesn't cater well for larger class A - RV's. also keep your distance from one of the Camp Host's .. very authoritarian attitude who needs quite a few PR skills. Overall we found the place to be... More

Took a chance when we stopped in our RV to see if there was room for us. We were lucky that there was. Primitive and fantastic. Close to the beach, but not on the beach. Nighttime brought about swooping bats which was wild to experience. Friendly rangers and a great value.

We went out on the pier and met up with a whale calf and her mom. Truly life changing to see these majestic creatures in the wild, yet so close to humanity.

San Simeon State Park has developed into a well laid out campground. The campsites are, for the most part good size with neighbor privacy. The campground has a water shortage so the restroom are closed, but pit toilets are provided. The lower campground has piped water for drinking, I do not know if this is new or temporary. We brought... More

We love camping here and try to come every summer. This year we brought my entire extended family and had a amazing time. The campground is clean and very kid friendly. The campground hosts are wonderful. And the beach is a five minute walk from camp! It's like beach camping without all of the sand coming in your camp. Lots... More

Nice campground but suffers from drought restrictions - bathrooms were closed and replaced with chemical toilets. We still managed to have a good time while we were there but it felt good to leave. Beach access was good but there were two dead elephant seals in the sand. Parking was a bit confusing since the reservation web site said you... More

We just spent the week here & can't wait to go back. We tent camp & prefer the more quiet areas so we stayed in the Washburn loop. The vegetation is not as dense but, our spot was good with trees & bushes to separate us from our neighbors. I was camping with teens & it was a great place... More
