When you travel along Hwy. 1 be prepare to make several stops. Between wineries, milk farms, waterfalls and the breath taken Pacific Ocean will take extra time to complete your adventurous journey. But, don't worry there are several quaint lodges, campgrounds, restaurants and plenty of gas stations. The Pacific Highway is one of California's oldest hwy, rich in history and... More

Visited the park after returning from Hearst castle. Got to see the beach and several seals. Would like to go to the park for a picnic next time with the family.

We recently did tent camping here. When you check in (we had reservations), they do let you check out your site and change sites, if it's not on hold for someone else. Lots of families with kids and pets. No cell phone service in the lower campground and it was WONDERFUL. People were interacting with each other, kids playing hide... More

We camped in our pop-up camper and enjoyed the campground. We stopped in on a Monday expecting them to be full like all the state parks we tried north around Big Sur, but this park had plenty of openings. We took the short walk to the beach and enjoyed the sunset. Our first sunset on the Pacific. Beautiful! Our site... More

We stopped in San Simeon on a beautiful beach with wild sea lions. It was fun to watch them and the area is very beautiful.

We stayed here in our RV as a stopover along the pacific coast and it was great. A really well maintained site, easy to access from the road, good size pitches with shade and an easy walk to the beach to watch the beautiful sunset. They were having to use portable toilets because of the drought but we were self... More

Great/very reasonably priced camp grounds. Lots of shade for self-contained camping (no hook-ups). Currently portable restrooms because of drought.

Hearst Castle is a few miles north. We stayed in our tent in the Primitive Campground. Due to the drought, there is no water near the campsites. Water is available near the park entrance. Bring lots of bottles. There are hiking trails of easy to moderate difficulty on the dry hills and through forest. Price for a tent site for... More

It was a nice park with excellent views of the ocean. There were nice trees by the ocean. Unfortunately it rained so we couldn't really get the full enjoyment.
