Service is not hard, but it is a large part of getting my vote. We stopped at this place for the view and the quaint looking property, hoping to find down to earth folks who love wine. We found an employee having a conversation about the negatives of living in California with the only other patrons. After standing at the... More

Stopped in with some new acquaintances and the six of us did some wine tasting. The experience was superb. We were seated at a table and the tasting was done in rounds with time in between so we could savor both the wine and conversation. The wine was excellent, too. It was one of our favorite memories on our month... More

We were staying at San Simeon and wanted to try some wine tasting. This place is off the beaten track but very quirky. Great service and very friendly bar staff. We did the $10 per person wine tasting which entailed trying 5 different wines. We stayed and bought a bottle and food, the burgers were awesome! Great place to visit.

While on a trip to the central coast, we visited the Hearst winery. Jeff poured our wines and was very pleasant and informative. We were served five wines, all wonderful. There is also a small snack bar that serves sandwiches, soups and snacks which was quite good.

The setting is interesting in a rustic sort of way, with nearby barn where they apparently have yearly bbq's. The place is quaint with an adjoining order at the counter type restaurant, a combo that adds to the very laid back charm of the place. Despite the philanthropy inspired collaboration between partners, the nice vibe and knowledgeable staff, the wines... More

We tried both the Merlot and the Cabernet. We thought the merlot was so so but the Cabernet was very good. We also had a delicious meal at the cafe. Wonderful hamburgers at a reasonable price.

On a tip from one of out tour guides we ventured across Hwy1 to the Hearst general grocery store. Great option to eating at visitor center. Hearst beef burgers are awesome, wine tasting room coexisting in same space is brilliant. Beautiful wines to taste, consume or buy. Also available is several cuts of the beef to bring home.

They are located across the road from the Castle. This review is of the winery only and not the food they serve. I did not find anything unusual about their wines. The whites and the reds were all too dry for me. You can do about six tastes of their wines for $10 which is reasonable. Service is very good... More
