Description: Sebastian's in Old San Simeon Village, across Highway 1 from the entrance...
Sebastian's in Old San Simeon Village, across Highway 1 from the entrance to Hearst Castle, is a well-known casual eatery. Serving up the very best Heart Ranch burgers, salads and sandwiches - guests from all over can enjoy a bite to eat on the deck with an ocean view or inside the cafe with historic photographs of the Hearst Ranch and Castle. Our historic building has been a general store in the village since 1873 when Leopold Frankl opened one to sell supplies to whalers, miners, dairy farmers and those who transported products in or out by ship.

Great place to stop after visiting Hearst Castle. Their menu includes 1/2 pound hamburgers made from Hearst's grass-fed Beef Cattle, for under $9, and served with great tasting fries. Made me a fan of Hearst's meats. As good as it gets. A place to stop in for a bite to eat with more flavor and atmosphere than any fast food... More

Wine tasting for the Hearst Winery as well as a café to enjoy a Hearts ranch hamburger. This used to be a general store/gift shop, and this shift seems to be a great way to sustain this historic building.

Burgers and wine No more cooked food after 4 Burgers are large but nothing special Staff were not particularly attentive & seemed most interested in wine customers than anything else Parts felt kinda bogus: 1) New owner-- but sign days family owned for 1914 years/generations Which is it? 2) Didn't see the general store part of it-- not even sure... Awesome sandwiches, wine tasting too! The wine staff was very friendly. We bought a t'shirt along with several bottles of wine. When we found if was too small, we went back in the morning to exchange it and found they didn't open until 11am When I knocked on the door, they let me in to exchange and also opened the... More

We had burgers and sat by the horse farm. Yummy huge burgers ( my kids spilt one!). Sat under a cypress tree. Everyone loved it. Had a wine tasting too!

We loved the food at Sebastians Store before the change and we love it still after the change. Excellent burger and fries. Love the ambiance sitting outside. We will be back!

We are locals and have been going to Sebastian's for years. We ventured out today to enjoy an amazing epicurean adventure. As we were driving to Sebastian's we reminisced about the delicious buns and how great everything was and what we were going to choose this time - deciding on the Ortega beef sandwich and the French Dip, favorites for... A good short stop near San Simeon, some old whaling items on the wall and they sell the local wine plus meat from the Hearst Ranch.

We were VERY surprised to notice all the changes in Sabastian's. ESPECIALLY the changes in the menu. It was much, MUCH smaller than previously and only a VERY small menu. Why would they make changes to something that "worked so well"? Just don't get it. Will be interested in seeing how it does over the next eighteen months!
