Owner description: Sebastian's in Old San Simeon Village, across Highway 1 from the entrance to Hearst Castle, is a well-known casual eatery. Serving up the very best Heart Ranch burgers, salads and sandwiches - guests from all over can enjoy a bite to eat on the deck with an ocean view or inside the cafe with historic photographs of the Hearst Ranch and Castle. Our historic building has been a general store in the village since 1873 when Leopold Frankl opened one to sell supplies to whalers, miners, dairy farmers and those who transported products in or out by ship.

We loved the food at Sebastians Store before the change and we love it still after the change. Excellent burger and fries. Love the ambiance sitting outside. We will be back!

We are locals and have been going to Sebastian's for years. We ventured out today to enjoy an amazing epicurean adventure. As we were driving to Sebastian's we reminisced about the delicious buns and how great everything was and what we were going to choose this time - deciding on the Ortega beef sandwich and the French Dip, favorites for... A good short stop near San Simeon, some old whaling items on the wall and they sell the local wine plus meat from the Hearst Ranch.

We were VERY surprised to notice all the changes in Sabastian's. ESPECIALLY the changes in the menu. It was much, MUCH smaller than previously and only a VERY small menu. Why would they make changes to something that "worked so well"? Just don't get it. Will be interested in seeing how it does over the next eighteen months!

Stopped in to visit and taste the Hearst Ranch wines. Tiny historical building across from public beach. It was packed, both with tasters and folks lined up for grill food, which looked and smelled great. Across Hwy 1 from the entrance to Hearst Castle Visitors Center. Oh--the red wines we sampled were good, not great. Better options in Paso area.

What a great spot - the burgers are huge and delicious! Bonus having the Hearst vineyard tasting room steps away ! Perfect ending to the Hearst Castle tour.

We stopped here as part of our Hurst Castle Experencie and wished we would have known to come with an empty stomach... :) The food looked very yummy, the lunch portions were the size of a full dinner and featured beef and other meats from the Hurst Ranch. It was a fun little place to visit and would highly recommend... More

Do go hungry Don't go if you're hungry RIGHT NOW Do expect to wait in line unless you are there before the door opens Don't just stand there, go buy wine - sip while you wait! Do eat beef (if you're into that) as it's not likely you'll get better beef anywhere else Don't be surprised if you sit longer... More

New owners new menu. Most of the beef sandwiches are no longer on the menu. No more French Dip:(. No extras with your burger or sandwich. The candy & drink coolers are gone to make room for a large picnic table inside. It's not the same and not as good.
