I visit California Missions whenever a city has one since I live walking distance to the San Gabriel Mission and enjoy their historical presence. This mission is certainly one well preserved and easily accessible. They have a walking tour and a fine museum of artifacts inside.

This plaza is a very nice and practical place to meet your friends, to visit the nearby mission or to just sip some good coffee.

This lovely large plaza by the mission connects the 1772 structure with the creek that runs through San Luis Obispo and the town's shopping/restaurant district. It is a great place from which to inspect the mission's architecture or to simply sit and relax or watch the passersby. I especially like the bear fountain that is a permanent part of the... More

The plaza is a wonderful open space in front of the mission. It would be excellent for any type of event, I'm sure it is put to good use, however we weren't there long enough to witness anything taking place there.

As a local, I love Mission Plaza. I've often taken my lunch here to sit, watch people, eat and take in the sunshine. The mission is gorgeous and the local fare around the mission is delish! There are more homeless individuals rambling through the grounds than I remember in the past, but overall, a nice place to sit, relax and... More

An excellent landscaped open space connecting the historic Mission complex with the natural area of the City Creek & a group of local restaurants.

Located in front of the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, very well kept beautiful garden. Scenic overlook of the San Luis Obispo Creek. Perfect beginning for the walking tour of the Historic District

This is a great site in downtown SLO for outside events, although it does get a bit warm in the Summer. It's surrounded by fun shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Every year I love this special little place. Kids love it and believe that Santa is really here. And it is so close to my beloved Mission.
