Every year I love this special little place. Kids love it and believe that Santa is really here. And it is so close to my beloved Mission.

Bells ring every half hour with no count or rhythm and are very very loud. Too loud. and they just keep ringing on and on. Some dirty homeless guy threw a banana at us and the festival was fun on the weekend, but it was overpriced beer and i didn't get to enjoy my ice cream.

On the grounds of the mission there are beautiful gardens. I also liked the bear and cub fountain. There is also an interesting museum on the area as well as mission history. The fee to visit the museum is voluntary; suggestion made is $3.00 per person.

This is a well-designed and beautiful plaza connected to the Mission. Very nice landscaping and visitor friendly. It invites you in, and makes you want to stay awhile.

It won't take long to tour the mission and its grounds, but it provides a good sense of the town's history.

What an inspiration to have the city 'fathers' propose the plan to make the Mission area a pedestrian-only plaza, great for the very popular free Friday concerts throughout the summer, for crafts events and other special occasions. The tremendous tall eucalyptus trees and the pedestrian areas make this a great place to spend an afternoon, relaxing in the vistas.

The restaurant across the mission is fun, Sat. evening mass is always wonderful. Nice when the creek has flowing water in the Wtr. mos.

Lots of neat shops to peruse. We walked and walked and enjoyed the Thursday night Farmers Market. I think all the yogurt shops that have left So. Orange County are in SLO - at least one on every block.

The fountain outside the Mission is fun - you just have to see it; I don't want to spoil the surprise...that is the start of the pedestrian part - at Christmas, they have a Santa Claus to visit....in June, no Santa - and no trout and practically puddles of water in the Creek -very scary. I have been here in... More

Mission Plaza is a hub for events, music, displays, etc. It is adjacent to a creek, the Mission and so many other wonderful places. Come for the LGBGT Fest. and then see a Sidewalk Chalk Painting display another time. There is always something going on.
