As a local, I love Mission Plaza. I've often taken my lunch here to sit, watch people, eat and take in the sunshine. The mission is gorgeous and the local fare around the mission is delish! There are more homeless individuals rambling through the grounds than I remember in the past, but overall, a nice place to sit, relax and... More

An excellent landscaped open space connecting the historic Mission complex with the natural area of the City Creek & a group of local restaurants.

Located in front of the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, very well kept beautiful garden. Scenic overlook of the San Luis Obispo Creek. Perfect beginning for the walking tour of the Historic District

This is a great site in downtown SLO for outside events, although it does get a bit warm in the Summer. It's surrounded by fun shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Every year I love this special little place. Kids love it and believe that Santa is really here. And it is so close to my beloved Mission.

Bells ring every half hour with no count or rhythm and are very very loud. Too loud. and they just keep ringing on and on. Some dirty homeless guy threw a banana at us and the festival was fun on the weekend, but it was overpriced beer and i didn't get to enjoy my ice cream.

On the grounds of the mission there are beautiful gardens. I also liked the bear and cub fountain. There is also an interesting museum on the area as well as mission history. The fee to visit the museum is voluntary; suggestion made is $3.00 per person.

This is a well-designed and beautiful plaza connected to the Mission. Very nice landscaping and visitor friendly. It invites you in, and makes you want to stay awhile.

It won't take long to tour the mission and its grounds, but it provides a good sense of the town's history.

What an inspiration to have the city 'fathers' propose the plan to make the Mission area a pedestrian-only plaza, great for the very popular free Friday concerts throughout the summer, for crafts events and other special occasions. The tremendous tall eucalyptus trees and the pedestrian areas make this a great place to spend an afternoon, relaxing in the vistas.
