I enjoyed walking around this green spot in downtown San Jose while staying at the nearby Fairmont. There was some construction underway in the central portion of the park that marred the beauty, but it was still a peaceful spot to sit on a bench and recuperate from an overdose of scientific talks at the nearby convention center.

Plaza de Cesar Chavez park always seems to have something going on. In the summer, there's Jazz Fest, in the winter, there's Christmas in the Park, and in between there are all kinds of other fun things. Even when there's nothing happening, the park is conveniently located near hotels and restaurants, so you can pick up lunch and find a... More

Children of all ages love the active water fountain where jets of water emerge from the flat stone surface.

This downtown park themed plaza may not compare well to the great public spaces like The Grand Square of Krakow, Florence's Piazza della Signoria or Mexico City's Plaza Hidalgo but it is pleasant and lively enough during the day. There are three hotels nearby and a central fountain that draws crowds of children during the summer. At night, however, the place... More

We have so much fun at Christmas in the Park. We usually go at night, but today, we were in downtown San Jose and went during the day time We found the park equally nice to see in the daylight hours. Christmas music was playing. There are nice holiday displays, many Christmas Trees including a very large one; Santa House;... More

Christmas novelty time filler. The park is filled with stout Christmas trees, decorated by various groups, schools and charities. Numerous animated displays scattered through out ... and some are a little creepy to be honest. A constant drone of varying Christmas carols blares at you, something one can only endure for so long. (I guess this kid is over the... More

I stayed at the Fairmont right across the street. I thought I would go for a walk after dinner. The park was very nice during the day, and a beautiful green space. It was a bit more challenging to enjoy after dark. I decided to walk on the pedestrian walk way instead.

This is a free event (parking fee is both outrageous and not recommended). If you choose a hotel right there you won't get caught up in the traffic and parking nonsense. It is a full "Fair" like atmosphere with rides, games, and mostly displays.. A few things to purchase (cute photographs with Santa, a sleigh ride photo booth, handmade signs,... More

Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park is delightful to go to all year round. We have gone to music festivals here. Its in the area where the art museum, tech museum, and Fairmont Hotel,is. Our favorite time of the year is to go is December when there is Christmas in the Park. There is ice skating, a ferris wheel, and other... More
