Willow Glen began as a marshy area. It was drained in the early 1900's and planted with orchards. Soon enough it began to urbanize, with Lincoln Avenue developing as its downtown shopping area. In 1927 the area was incorporated as the "Town of Willow Glen." By the 1930's community growth made it necessary to join the City of San Jose. Today, downtown is a bustling shopping district filled with shoppers walking the charming tree-lined sidewalks.

My mother used to say this would be the downtown of San Jose, meaning the area with stores. In the past few years, there's been a lot of renovation, all for the better. LaVilla's been there for years, good ravioli's, bread, general deli, wine selection, Italian Christmas cookies are like eating gold, meaning pricey. Three Sisters is a fun place,... More

Willow Glen has some hidden treasures in its shops and it's a great place to shop. I loved the different antique shops.

Willow Glen is an old San Jose neighborhood with upscale homes surrounding a nice shopping area with good restaurants. It is a good place to spend a morning or afternoon.

Great fun - well arranged etc - loads for kids to get involved in. Nice little café although you could eat own food in courtyard

Hard to find parking, lots of traffic, bring lots of money. Sort of run-of-the-mill shops, with a few originals thrown in. La Villa's Deli is great. Hicklebees children's bookstore is great.

Downtown Willow Glen is great for walking around and grabbing a bite to eat. There are several restaurants with very good food. The farmer's market on Saturday mornings is small but has a lot of what you need. One of my favorite stops is the children's bookstore near the corner of Minnesota and Lincoln.

Always go to Willow Glen when visiting the area, darling stores, a favorite is, Three Sisters. Three Sisters is a treasure of vintage items, the ladies change it often. Their honey is made right in Willow Glen, a nice gift for friends.

Willow Glen is a neighborhood, located in San Jose, California. Tree-lined Lincoln Street, between Willow Street and Minnesota Street, is the heart of Willow Glen and offers many shops and restaurants. Willow Glen is very walkable, which is good because finding a place to park can be a headache. Some on-street parking is available, as is parking in a handful... More

Willow Glen is a favorite spot of my daughter and son-in-law that live in San Jose. They have taken me here the last few times on my visits. The shops and restaurants have a side variety of selections for everyone, including Fast Food if you'd like. There is a great custard/ice cream shop that always has lines out the door.... More
