The State Beach at San Clemente is one of the best SoCal beaches. Everything that you desire in a beach is here...fire rings, shaded areas, outdoor showers, restrooms, picnic tables, volleyball, great surf and clean, seemingly endless beach. There are pelicans to be seen, porpose or dolphins frolicking in the waves and surfers. A great place for day dreaming, outdoor... More

We enjoyed strolling along the dirt path in the early morning. Lots of locals exercise there. Swings are there for kids to enjoy. Tables and barbeque pits are available with palm trees. The sand is not too clean due to cigarette butts left everywhere.

Great to visit with a group of friends, wether cool or warm weather, just so refreshing to be out in the fresh ocean breeze with sand between your toes and the wind caressing your skin. Love the place!

This beach is clean, there's ton's of people watching to do, whether its the surfers or the grass dwellers. The small "boardwalk" has a couple of sidewalk cafe's, a convenience store with snacks/wine/souvenirs a B&B or two and the famous Amtrak Surfliner is always whizzing by- be sure to wave! The pier is sprinkled with plenty of local fisherman fighting... More

I love this campground! Great views, easy access to the beach (can't take your dog, though) and nice walking paths around. I go here now and again at the last minute in the off season. I suspect you need a reservation fairly far in advance in the summer. If you go and you have a dog, your windshield tag gets... More

The beach is South California gorgeous -- cliffs, surf. And this particular stretch has a lot of smaller houses along the trail where actual San Clemente citizens reside (as opposed to the mostly-vacant time shares on top of the cliffs owned by investors). The State Park up the hill, on the other hand, is a huge disappointment. It says there... More

That was Saturday before our big family reunion. My relatives flew in from the east coast the day before and they rented a car that day to drive through the Pacific coast until San Diego from Fullerton, California. Coming from a very cold Brrr weather of 5 degrees in Maryland, my relatives looked forward to a sunny day along the... More

Spending the day in San Clemente was relaxing. It is a lovely walking trail, about 2.3 miles from the metro stop to the end. You can go a little further and walk along the mountain side also. At the pier and across the street you'll find a few restaurants. The restaurants across the street are a little more reasonable in... More

It is a great place to visit during the winter if you like to walk on the beach. It is usually almost deserted except for the surfers and you can walk a mile down the beach to watch the surfers at Trestles.
