Want a nearly flat walking/running trail with an oceanview? This phenomenal. You can start at the state park, south end, and go south along the rock trail next to the railroad tracks, for a private less traveled area. That ends at Nixon's old home/compound. Or head north for a easier well beaten dirt/sand path. This direction is busiest and you... More

The sand was a bit rocky for my liking and the stairs were a bit much but once you hit the water it was wonderful

We went for a lovely swim here, it gets a bit too crowded during the weekend, but on weekdays it's quiet. Once you're past the waves, the swimming is great. Clear and clean, with no undertow.

Where do I start? San Clemente beach is clean, safe, not overly crowded, very family friendly, great for surfing, body boarding, train watching, etc. There are firepits, lifeguards, and a few places to eat across the street. We visited the beach for 4 days in a row and we did not want to leave! We can't wait to come back... More

Very clean Beach, but not located near any facilities. Or at least I didn't find any. Had a hard time finding parking, but since I am not from the area, maybe I just didn't know where to go.

I LOVE this beach! The water is clear, the sand is clean, and the waves are great! Downsides - because it is a great beach, you need to get there early to stake a great place to sit down. Never fails that every time I come, some one plops down in front of my towels and umbrellas and ruins the... More

This was the perfect Beach for our family. It was clean, not over crowded and didn't have tons of seaweed and sea grass in the water, which my kids freak out about. We stayed well past sunset and watched the train go by, and watched the sun go down past the pier, it was gorgeous. We would love to come... More

Beach access from road was awesome.. About $2 an hour for parking and has a fun snack bar stand. I wouldn't bring kids again for two reasons: the shore break is pretty hard and tough.. Kids cannot go out hardly at all before the waves get very rough.. Maybe 5 to 6 feet, also a train track sits on the... More

We travel to California often and always try to plan 1 day at this lovely beach. The parking is great right next to the beach and is not expensive. It is free after 5:00 pm. They have nice covered palm umbrella areas for shade and picnic tables for lunch. We end up spending the entire day as there are snack... More

This is a nice beach to come to. It is very clean and normally there is a lot of open space to lay out. This is partly because there is limited parking. Taking the train is an option on the days it stops here.
