Built in the mid-1920's, this was the home of the original founder of San Clemente, Ole Hanson. It is a beautiful Spanish style courtyard home, and has been completely restored. It is well worth the small admission price to explore the grounds, the home, take pictures (marvelous views over the Pier Bowl area), and learn a lot of So Cal... More

This 1920's hacienda-style casa has just enough of its original character to make the tour of it and the grounds delightful. The terra cotta floor tiles are beautiful. I especially enjoyed the old door knobs found throughout the casa. The gardens are beautiful, with many of the plants marked with their names. There are lots of benches, so we sat... More

Very cool historical former home of San Clemente's first mayor. Same architect that designed the "Western White House" where Nixon retired in town.

What a rookie error for a seasoned traveler. We arrived on a Monday and found the site closed. Be sure to check days and hours, since they are limited, especially during the week. We could see the beautiful court yard gardens through the gateand the casa itself from the San Clemente pier below. It is obvious to see it was a... More

We were going to the San Clemente pier restaurant for lunch and looked up other things to do. We have often seen the big home on the hill on previous visit is to the pier and wondered who lived there. We found out, was very nice with spectacular views. Was worth seeing a restored home from the very beginning of... More

Hidden amongst the apartment laden neighborhood is this authentic piece of San Clemente history that offers a glimpse into what the area was like in the 1920s. Well worth a visit a visit for the history and the views. Parking is very and convenient and the staff/volunteers are very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I went to San Clemente from San Diego for our anniversary. We made this our first stop into town, which was a perfect choice. We got some history on San Clemente and it's "founder" Ole Hanson, while enjoying some amazing views of the area. Really glad we made this our first stop and love San Clemente for... More

Casa Romantica was the vacation home of San Clemente founder and visionary Ole Hansen. It would be worth the visit just for the beautiful location on a bluff overlooking the San Clemente pier and beach. There are newly planted gardens sloping down from the house with benches and amphitheatre seating to enjoy the panoramic ocean views. In addition to the... More

This is a beautiful, historic home, located on a cliff high above the Pacific Ocean with an absolutely stunning view. Open as a museum and cultural center, the Casa Romantica is a lovely landmark for the people of San Clemente and southern Orange County. It often features exhibitions of local artists, adult and student, as well as having beautiful gardens,... More
