I think it is worth the $5.00 admission to see the view from the ocean side of the Casa. It is bare bones furnished so you can't necessarily see how it once looked and I was told that one wing had been removed. It is a lovely building with nice gardens.

A very nice place to spend a couple of hours. Well worth the $5 admission. Take the time to read the information displays. Enjoy the view from every room. Most of what you see is the result of restoration, but so wonderful to imagine how it might have been. Notice the restored oak floors laid down with dowels like a... More

I was taken to Casa Romantica by my parents who were staying in San Clemente for the month. It is located on a hill overlooking the beach, in the middle of a subdivision - so easily overlooked if you weren't expecting it. The website didn't do it justice by half! A gorgeous art installation was on display in one room,... More

We stumbled on this beautiful home just driving around the city on our way from San Diego to LA. Glad we stopped by. Took some beautiful pictures of the gardens, some that will definitely be framed. If you find yourself in the area - don't miss this bit of cultural history.

This is a little bit art center, a little bit arboretum, a historical building, a great place to hear music, a small, tasteful place for community events (or private events). And a wonderful place to stop and think during a busy day or week. Go there. Be surprised. Support a valuable community institution.

We visited this special little place upon the recommendation of a friend from the area. What a treat! The property/gardens are beautifully restored and maintained. A very reasonable admission ($5) affords you an interesting glimpse of CA history and the founding of San Clemente. Combined with a lunch or dinner at one the many good restaurants on Avenita Del Mar... More

We came across the sign for the Casa Romantica on our meandering drive through town. While exploring the sprawling cliff side home of the town founder, Ole Hanson, it reminded me of a poor man's Hearst Castle. While Randolf Hearst had to curtail construction on his elaborate mansion during the Great Depression, his contemporary, Ole Hanson, lost the home he... More

This was so much more than we expected, We enjoyed touring the house and reading the history of the house and the area. We like to learn the history of an area. The gardens are so beautiful and so carefully maintained. I strongly recommend a visit here
