Those sports car events quickly outgrew the public roads of the Del Monte Forest and a beautiful new road facility was born on November 9, 1957.Since then, Monterey has been visited by some of the most prestigious racers in history; Roger Penske, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Kenny Roberts, Bobby Rahal, Wayne Rainey and Valentino Rossi to name a few. The late 60's and 1970's may be remembered as the "Can-Am Years," but it was also the debut of Trans Am, IMSA and AMA motorcycles. CART Indy Car racing and Grand Prix Motorcycling put their stamp on the track in the 80's and 90's. More recently, the huge evolution MotoGP has created a phenomenal global following for the track.Today, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts five world-class race weekends each season, with elite road racing series from around the world visiting the Monterey Peninsula every year. « less

I dropped by on a non-race day just for a look and had a look around - wonderful circuit with friendly staff. That corkscrew turn is awesome!

Spectacular track and very technical. The cockscrew will take the wind out of you, and rewards when you get it right.

Facilities are very nice. Food vendors had everything you needed and the food was delicious. Now let's get to the track and the wonderful people who make it all happen WOW HATS OFF TO YOU ALL!!! Even during someone's off track excursion, the corner workers got the flags out; drivers off the track and wreckers and emergency crews out PDQ... More

Great event, actually the whole week is the event with the races being at the end of the week. If you are in Monterey in August, this is the place to be... assuming you like classic cars. Between Pebble Beach concourse, auctions, and the race events its a car lover's dream.

The raceway is in a natural setting with beautifulviews through out. Car and motorcycle and bicycle racing and concerts are held there. Camping sites accomodate large vehicles but no hookup services but nice clean bathrooms and picnic tables Reservations recommended. Run by the Monterey County Parks Service.

I've been attending races here since it opened and took over for the legendary Pebble Beach road course. in 1957. A number of years ago they made an infield loop to lengthen the layout (Used to be a large circular loop) which increases the amount of track you see from most vantages. A great venue which is well managed with... More

My son-in-law and grandson invited me to attend this event - it was my first visit. The raceway event was very well-organized and the weather was perfect. We parked in the "Corral" zone and, to gain a better close-up view of the cars and their drivers, stationed ourselves at a vantage point on the "corkscrew" portion of the raceway. The... More
