Description: The Monterey Peninsula's love affair with world-class racing traces its...
The Monterey Peninsula's love affair with world-class racing traces its beginnings to the inaugural running of the Pebble Beach Road Races in 1950. Those sports car events quickly outgrew the public roads of the Del Monte Forest and a beautiful new road facility was born on November 9, 1957.Since then, Monterey has been visited by some of the most prestigious racers in history; Roger Penske, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Kenny Roberts, Bobby Rahal, Wayne Rainey and Valentino Rossi to name a few. The late 60's and 1970's may be remembered as the "Can-Am Years," but it was also the debut of Trans Am, IMSA and AMA motorcycles. CART Indy Car racing and Grand Prix Motorcycling put their stamp on the track in the 80's and 90's. More recently, the huge evolution MotoGP has created a phenomenal global following for the track.Today, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts five world-class race weekends each season, with elite road racing series from around the world visiting the Monterey Peninsula every year.

My husband and I went there for a track event this last Monday. Very fun! The only thing that was frustrating was that the bathrooms by the restaurant were closed and we had to use the ones by the garage. Not that big of a deal though. The food was great! We had the Teriyaki Chicken Plate and it was... More

What a weekend! Great track. Iconic. Sitting on the cork screw watching the riders flick-flack round the top and drop six storeys in a second was incredible. Had to stop at The Corkscrew Inn at the top of the hill. Great view and craft beer. Can't fault the organisers. Traffic flow in and out of the circuit was a breeze.

Fun day at world superbike races! Great food and services here. Lots of restrooms. Best thing for us were the little golf cart taxis, some driven by local veterans. My partner had really sore foot and these folks made it possible for him to get around with less pain!

First of all this is motorsports paradise with a full schedule during the summer months. The viewing from anywhere on the circuit is second to none and this is one of the few tracks you can camp trackside. The pit suites are fabulous and the catering pretty good. The paddock is a great place to get up close to the... More

If you never get to drive any other road course, drive this one. Check out the on-site racing school: look at the list of champions that went thru there. Personal best: in a Barber event, I got to within 110% of the best lap in my event.

Its a great place to go for the Le Mans races or the F1. There is a real good BBQ place by the paddocks. I love the view from the top of the corkscrew.

We called by having no idea if we would even be able to get in, not knowing it is much more than just a racetrack. We were on our honeymoon for 3 weeks in California touring and my husband wanted to see what we could see. He was not disappointed. For $8 at a gate we got to enter the... More

Having enjoyed over twenty driving schools in the past nine years...I have some "track-time" and an opinion on what works etc... This school, while not as "polished" or flashy as some of the others I have been to (BMW Hi Performance, M5, Audi S-Series & Audi R8 Schools, Porsche @ Barber Motorsports)...was by far the most enjoyable for me. The... More

Wow. Excellent class and hands on training. A must do for the fast car driving enthusiast! I was a spectator but watching the excitement and joy on my sweet husbands face was great!

So thus review is for both hooked on driving and Mazda Laguna Seca raceway. First of all I would like to say I love doing track days with hooked on driving. Hooked on driving is a little more expensive than other track days but the schedule and the other drivers are second to none. It was my first time at... More
