Granted this was our first Napa wine country experience for two days. Our hotel in Napa recommended phelps as a unique boutique vineyard. This was our last planned vineyard to visit during our two days. We were a little surprised at the price for the tastings. $150 for the two of us. Beyond that, our "waiter" was very good, patient... This winery's setting and wine tasting is 5 stars. It is a bit pricey at $75 per person but the quality of the wines and the information relayed by the "tour" guide made it quite worthwhile. Sitting out on their terrace overlooking the vineyards was truly a fabulous experience. We highly recommend a visit to this winery to those who... More

Joseph Phelps winery is a beautiful spot with amazing views of the valley. The Terrace Tasting is relaxing and you get to try some really top notch and enjoyable wines. Lydia assisted us during our tasting and was excellent, let us relax at a comfortable pace and also offered great suggestions for future visits. The tasting is pricey, but you... More

Although this winery is open for tastings by appointment only, I would highly recommend that you schedule a visit to this place. They have a newly renovated, beautiful tasting room with a gorgeous terrace that makes tasting their great wines even more enjoyable. Try as many of their wines as they are pouring...and I am certain that you will be... More

Fantastic wines in a pristine setting. Listening to the story of old Joe Phelps was truly inspiring. The wines are in my opinion the best of Napa. Their Insignia and Bakus are simply wonderful and the 2012 Cab is a wonderful wine. We had a lovely host and she spent time with us telling us all about the history of... More

Consistently fantastic experience! We were blown away by the scenery and the new facility. This was my third visit to the winery, and first visit in the new facility. We enjoyed our tasting on the terrace. Corban hosted us, and was delightful as always. The attention to detail and superb customer service keeps us coming back. Backus is by far... More

Beautiful winery, beautiful scenery, nice wine but not impressed by our tasting experience. Basically just sat outside and enjoyed the views talking to the tasting host about the wine and history of phelps family. Nothing really memorable to take away from this tasting except some wine.

Sitting on the porch sipping wine in the late morning at Joseph Phelps was one of the highlights of the trip. We had a patio tasting, which overlooked the vineyards. Although the patio is large, the seating arrangements made it a very peaceful, intimate experience. We are excited to receive our first shipment of wine in October, and relive part... More

Small group led by Sonia who was knowledgeable and personable. The wines and paired cheeses were clearly explained. It was easy and enjoyable to sample delicious wine with a beautiful view. New tasting room facilities are gorgeous.

The visitors' rooms are newly constructed. The host explained quite a detail of the vineyard and the wines. The level of wines are good but a bit over priced in reference to European ones.
