After being disappointed at a previous vineyard, I was very pleased with the wine and the people from Franciscan. The wine educator was amazing and did a good job of describing the wines. I loved the wine and would definitely return.

Reserve a "tasting experience" and be escorted through the vineyard, fermentation room and aging room. Conclude the tour by sitting around a large wooden table in a private room inside their wine "library". Then have a wine expert walk you through five of the finest offerings from the winery, Nice, elegant and relaxing, Can't say enough about how nice a... More

This winery was part of our NAPA wine tour and our first stop. We paid $10 for 4 tastings. I found the presentation a bit boring -- if you want you can go to the wine bar and select what you would like to try. The winery is clean and nice with bathroom facilities. There is not food for purchase... More

Hands down our favorite winery in the Napa Valley. Did the wines with altitude tasting-all reds. Fabulous wine. Gave us two extra tastings each for free. Generous pour on a few (almost a full glass). Sitting in the courtyard didn't have a view but with wine so good we didn't care. No reservations needed. A few minutes from the downtown... More

It could be that I am not a fan of white wines- found their offerings to be too tart. The Cabernet had a smoother finish. Our server was not very attentive. Could be because we were two couples in our late thirties and he didn't think we would spend a great deal....we ended up spending $300 at another vineyard with... More

We love Franciscan. We enjoy the tastings and the option of bringing a picnic to enjoy on the patio while tasting the fantastic wines. They will allow you to bring your own food. I don't believe they have food options to purchase on the property. The setting is lovely and quiet. Unfortunately, because they are a larger winery that mass... More

While on our way into town, while heading to our B&B in Calistoga, we stopped here at Franciscan Estate for a break from travel, for a quick wine tasting. I had read that they did not require reservations, as many places do (we had eight people in our party). We stopped here, and it was a great and fun beginning... More

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay in one of the gurst cottages at Franciscan Estate. Our hostess sat and tasted wines with us in a charming setting right in front of the cottage. The weather was spectacular and we were looking forward to dinner at The French Laundry later that evening so it was a magical stay.... More

I think Franciscan Winery is the best place to do a tasting of fine Napa Valley wines. The staff all seems knowledgable and courteous with none of the pretense that you find in some of the other wineries. Include Franciscan in your tasting tour of Napa!

My husband and I visited tihs winery on Sunday, February 17. We were immediately greeted by Debbie -- and she provided us not only with the best wine tasting experience we've had, but also some wonderful conversation and education about the wines. We came in only to sample and purchase a couple bottles, but it was because of our experience... More
