We spent a week in Napa Valley and on our last day we decided to visit Charbay on a whim. I called when we were about 20 minutes away and the nice man I spoke with (John, I think) said sure, come on over! But, since it was around lunch time and a beautiful day, he told me to first... More

Pro tip - when a winery says "by appointment only" that also includes calling them up on your mobile while outside their door, it's a standard Napa thing to do. A rustic winery and distillery, this is a family winery at its best. I loved the old stills they had laying around you can admire. Great wines and spirits. Plus... More

Wow, this winery/distillery was a gem! I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great. They had the most amazing Port and I don't even like Ports! LOL We had a tasting and it was just the two of us with the employee. We learned a lot about the difference between making wine and liquor. A very interesting experience!

Stopped in here randomly on the way down from Schweiger. We were greeted by their celebrity dogs at the car. We were welcomed with a small cup of split pea stew. The absolute must try/buy is the green tea aperitif. A glass of it with a splash of sparkling lemonade is perhaps the most refreshing alcoholic beverage we have ever... More

Like several other reviewers, we wanted something different from the other wineries, so we decided to give Charbay a try. You have to make an appointment, but they were very flexible and accomodating. When we arrived, we were greeted by John, who was very friendly and helpful. The first order of business was to take our photo next to the... More

My friend and I recently visited Charbay and had an incredible time. We were running a little bit late and John was gracious and told us just ot take our time and arrive safely. Once we arrived to Charbay among the winding hills we were in for a wonderful surprise. John greeted us by name and this small winery/distillery is... More

I love Charbay. Ypu get to it by driving through miles of unspoiled old pine forest until you can see through the trees and realize you're really pretty high up a mountain. There perched on the top is a real California gem. There is wine, very good wine. But there is so much more. Charbay also specializes in a huge... More

The distillery process is so interesting, we enjoyed trying something different on our wine tasting weekend. Because of state laws we were not able to taste the vodka but I will look for it in the city, they gave us some good cocktail recipes to try. We were able to taste the port & the green tea aperitif, we enjoyed... More
