This is the seat of the Bishop of Sacramento - it was restored a couple of years ago. It is often the site of funerals for major public figures, even ones who are not Catholic. Even if you are not religious it is a beautiful structure.

Whether you are into religious buildings or not, don't miss out on admiring the exterior of this building and then venture inside to behold the stunning decor of this beautifully restored and enhanced edifice which resounds with the wealth, extravagance and stylistic good taste of the gold rush period. One of the many jewels of Sacramento.

We came into Sacramento late afternoon so decided to check this cathedral out based on other's reviews. I am so glad we did! The cathedral is beautiful inside and out. We only had a short time before closing so the tour was not available too us. We will plan on coming earlier next time so we can hear more of... More

Lovely cathedral with a Raphael copy. Go see if near Capitol for sure. I like visiting Sacramento on weekends since workday crowds not there but other businesses downtown are only M-F. But read about the renovation. .

What a beautiful Cathedral! From the minute you walk in...you can see that it is amazing. Just to sit & pray can give you a calmness. What a wonderful place to visit when in Sacramento. Don't miss it!

We loved our visit to the Cathedral. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Cathedrals are always on our list to see when we travel. This didn't disappoint. The colors are wonderful and the staff I spoke with were so nice. The only downside is that it closes a bit early on Fridays to allow for weddings but I understand. I... More

When you walk in it is very serene. there is a lot to look at or just take a seat and think. I have found nothing to dislike about the Cathedral. but if you want to go to mass on Christmas Eve get there early as it is satnding room only.

It is a beautiful place to visit. You don't have to be Catholic to appreciate it. It has been restored to it's original beauty. It is a historic place to visit as well as a special spot in Sacramento.
