Beautiful Historical Cathedral

Seeing this church with a tour guide and/or purchasing 'A Pilgrim's Guide to Sacramento's Cathedral' explained much of the history, windows, paintings, and awe inspiring sights.

We tried to see this cathedral, but arrived to the establishment and discovered that there is no parking anywhere near the cathedral. The parking wasn't just full; there is no parking period. We followed the street to the cathedral which dead ends at a side entrance. There isn't even a view of this beautiful structure from the street. If you... More

The cathedral has been restored to its former glory. Beautiful frescos, ornate metal work, huge oil paintings, beautiful wooden pews and marble floors. Tours are available and a small gift shop. Services are conducted regularly. A special treat is to hear a concert in the cathedral. Many groups use this as a venue and the cathedral sponsors organ concerts from... More

Beautiful Cathedral befitting the capitol city of America's largest state. Can be easily combined with a visit to the state capitol, only a few blocks away. It is a working parish church, but could have had a little more historical information.

They have weekly free tours on Wednesdays and Sundays, but be sure to check ahead. If going on a tour, the tour guide is low keep and meets you just inside the doors. Had I not asked, I don't think he would've advertised he was the tour guide. Look for someone with a 3 inch binder. I recommend taking the... More

I stumbled into here and it was a beautiful and thoughtful space. The artwork and stained glass remind one of Europe.
