Locke, CA is an historic town, built originally around 1915 by Chinese agricultural workers, passing through a phase of gambling and prostitution during Prohibition, and now a nascent art colony and historic site being preserved by a valiant band of local residents. This is authentic history of the American west and deserves to be widely visited.

Formed by the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers the Delta lies between Sacramento, Stockton and the San francisco Bay Area. The land lies mostly below the level of the rivers and sloughs, protected by the vast levee system. It is a boaters paradise - miles and miles of interconnecting waterways. there are also interesting drives - levee roads, old fashioned... More

Not only do I go there ... I LIVE there. Best location to get away without a long trip. Friendly people and beautiful scenery. Can't beat it. Just ask the locals where to go when you stop at the fantastic wineries in Clarksburg. Miners Leap / The Old Sugar Mill / Bogle ( all within a couple of miles from... More

I thouroughly enjoy a nice scenic drive down hwy 160 into the delta from Sacramento. Hwy 160 follows the river all the way to the delta. Lots of farmland and orchards - qaint towns to stop and grab a bite to eat - farms to stop at and get fresh produce... in fall you'll find many a pumpkin patch to... More

The California Delta is my summer home. The Delta has well over a thousand miles of waterway to explore! The many sloughs and rivers crisscross each other like a lace tablecloth. There are a multitude of things to do, fishing, boating, dining, camping, wine tasting, sightseeing, etc. If you're a boater, there are many, many marinas to meet your needs,... More

The Delta area is such a pleasant surprise to busy Sacramento. Such a wonderful gift awaits the people of California. The Sacramento River, all the sloughs off the river, the lakes and other rivers are great for boating and fishing. The ride along the levee leads you past small original Chinese villages like Locke, beautiful little communities like Walnut Grove.... More

DO NOT GO IN THE WATER!!! The water is disgusting and just filthy!! Been there a few times houseboating and it was just nasty! It's a nice view from the sky or on the top of the boat, but once you are in the water you will want to get right out!!
