A great mix of history and seeing a working governmental capital building. Several rooms are as they were years ago for history buffs. There are scupltures and pictures of all the governors. Take a guided tour, some of the pictures have great stories behind them and help you understand the governor's personality. There is a working legislature and it's the... More

Interesting exhibits by each county downstairs. Also a wonderful rotunda and oil portraits of many of the Governors of California.

We loved it and made lots of good pictured in and around the building. It was fun but a bit too crowded.

History, History, History! Our docent was full of it. She did a great job, keeping us interested and feeding us facts about this beautiful, majestic Capital building. Everyone should take the tour and walk the grounds. It is impossible to take it all in the first time, so plan on going back for seconds. I relearned that "Eureka” is California’s... More

It was interesting for me and the children alike, we were able to walk on our own following a map since we did not have time to wait for the next tour. We saw everything that was Interesting for us spending more or less time according to our liking.

Beautiful building surrounded by lovely gardens. Great place to visit during the heat of the day. Coffe shop and nice sitting area on the bottom floor. Friendly workers who are very helpful to make sure you enjoy your self guided tour.

As a parent, I strive to introduce my kids to situations that will excite them in ways that open their eyes and minds... But when traveling with 3 teenagers and 1 pre-teen, even the best attempts at that often fall flat! Our visit to the State Capital was an exception. I could almost see the light bulb moments in two... More
