Our docent Bob was amazing. (83 years old and going strong!) Our State Capitol building is a treasure and we enjoyed becoming familiar with it and with the processes that take place within those walls. It is especially interesting to see the House and Senate Chambers. A must-see in Sacramento, of course!

This is a must see if you're in the area. It is a functioning government building that is still open to the public. There is a nice rose garden and a fish pond behind it. You'll get a wonderful scent of blooming orange trees as you walk through the gardens if you happen to be there at the right time... More

We expected tp pay for the tour but were pleasantly surprised to find it free. The tour itself was comprehensive and informative. Our guide was very good and answered all questions well. The building itself is stunning. So glad we came.

My son and I visited the Capitol now for the second time (also summer 2013). This time we've spent plenty of time inside and visited all the rooms and also got some hands on experience. We sat down in the Senate's chamber and in the Assembly chamber. Very impressive interior. Downstairs one can watch 2 short movies regarding the Capitol.... More

We visited the capitol and took the free guided tour. Everything in the building was beautiful and our guide told us very interesting facts about what happens and brought us into the assembly rooms. The tour was about 45 minutes long and if your in Sacramento, you should definitely visit the capital and take the tour. Older children would enjoy... More

The State Capitol and Capitol Park is a must-see destination if you are visiting Sacramento. The historic State Capitol building is simply beautiful with its painted rotunda. There is something for everyone. County exhibits for the curious, historical rooms in their authentic settlngs for the interested, a movie about California's history in the basement (along with a decent cafeteria), special... More

This is a great way to spend a day in Sacramento. When you stroll thru the halls and view the exhibits from all of the counties or the paintings of past governors, you may just bump in to the current governor. You can even visit your local assembly person's office. They love meeting people from their districts and will often... More

The California state capitol in Sacramento is set in a beautiful large park. The building itself has been restored and displays historic rooms in the museum portion. State parks docents provide great tours. Outside there are often events happening on the West steps and lawn. Currently the annual huge Christmas tree is being put up. It will be covered with... My roommate had carried on about this building and when we had time to visit I said we were going. Anyway the insides of the Capitol are fantastic and you are able to see where all the legislature meets. On the outside there is a tribute to all the fallen Firefighters from California. It is a nice memorial. Besides many... More

A very impressive building. There is a free tour that is worth the time, but not something young children would enjoy. The tour guide had some very interesting facts about the building and history. The central dome was magnificent the view from the first floor.
