My roommate had carried on about this building and when we had time to visit I said we were going. Anyway the insides of the Capitol are fantastic and you are able to see where all the legislature meets. On the outside there is a tribute to all the fallen Firefighters from California. It is a nice memorial. Besides many... More

A very impressive building. There is a free tour that is worth the time, but not something young children would enjoy. The tour guide had some very interesting facts about the building and history. The central dome was magnificent the view from the first floor.

I make an effort to visit each state's capitol when I am in the area. I enjoy the craftsmenship that typically go into them and California's is no exception. I liked the display where the outer walls were repaired and you can look into the space between the inner and outer walls. The docent gave an interesting tour of the... More

The capitol is unique in that it not only houses a wonderful set of museum rooms but the gov. and legislators are actually working in the building. You never know who may be walking in the halls beside you. The architecture is beautiful and to get a genuine feel for life in the early 1900's take advantage of the free... More

This is a great place to go see a well kept building, take in some meetings, check out the gardens and tour the inside of the building. It was educational and well kept.

The California State Capitol is a must stop when in Sacramento. The whole building is the museum, a working museum. The state legislature meet in the chanbers that were built between 1865 and 1874 (there have been some updates but the restoration of the chambers is fantastic), and the rooms set up to look like they did in 1902, 1906,... Learn about history of California and other former (prior to Sacramento) California capitols. See documentary if you have some time. Good place to visit for adults and kids as well. Take a docent lead tour. Free street parking on Sundays only.

A few months back my sister and I took a trip to the museum. We were so impressed! The guide tour was very informative. The staff was very knowledgable. Last week, I had my 3-year old granddaughter and so I took her to the museum. She was so focused on the guide. She had fun getting on some of the... More

This is a neat place to visit when the legislature is in session. You have to go through security but that's appropriate. All the people we dealt with who work there were friendly and very helpful. The interior of the building is incredible. Bring your camera!
