Visit on a sunny day - the large windows offer beautiful views and bring in such wonderful light to this historic treasure. First rate tour guides explain a lot and point out what you might otherwise not notice. One of the best Capital buildings we ever visited. We enjoyed the portraits and the architecture immensely.

If you get to see only 1 attraction in Sacramento, it is the California State Capitol. It is awesome to think that decisions concerning the entire state of California is made here. We also enjoyed the Rose gardens and other flower gardens here.

Thery were having a re-enactment of the 1906 earthquake of San Francisco, how Sacramento dealt with the people affected, so we thought we would check it out. It was great! The actors did a wonderful job of portraying what people felt. While in the building, we did some exploring. Worth checking out.

I did a self guided tour with help from the information desk. It is amazing inside & out. It is also free, and open to everyone.

Great place for a stroll with your loved ones. Especially romantic in the wintertime when they put a huge christmas tree at the front of the capitol.

We took our 10 year old grand son here on a trip from Southern California. Having grown up in Sacramento, it was fun to see it through a newcomer's eyes. He had to be coaxed, but I think it was worthwhile and at the end of the day he was excited to share with his teacher. Lovingly restored, I just... More

The state capitol is a beautiful building. It's hard to take a bad picture of it. The museum rooms in the older section are really interesting. We were fortunate to have the attention of one of the volunteers, so practically got a private tour of those rooms. The grounds of the capital are so beautiful -- as lovely as many... More

Great place to visit. The tour guides were friendly and well informed. Try to go in the spring when the weather is cooler.
