Such a beautiful building in our golden state. There are tours of the Capitol, however by the time we arived they were over for the day. There is do much history in this building even without a tour we stoll learned a lot.

A magnificent building, full of history and the living center of administration. Easy walking distance and surrounded by parks / gardens. Recommend a half day tour.

The Capitol was refurbished and seismically retrofitted as the State's Bicentennial Project under Jerry Brown's first administration. They did a great job and it is well worth a visit. And yes, you will find Arnold's portrait hanging there.

Took the guided tour which was about an hour, very interesting, nicely paced and our guide knew her stuff so learned a few things. They also have a self guided tour but I always find the guided makes sure I see the highlights. Beautiful building!

My family and I had decided to visit the state capitol while on a trip to visit family. We really enjoyed ourselves and loved all the history that the capitol had to offer! The only reason why I didn't give my recent visit to the state Capitol 5 stars, is because I felt myself wanting more. But overall it was... More

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful buildings in California. Can you believe it was once condemned and recommended to be torn down? You can get a sample of California history during the free tour and see where State laws are born. The impressive history on the construction of the State Capitol building is shared and you are free to... More

Call a couple of days early to get a free VIP tour. It was well worth it! We had our own private tour guide through the whole Capitol building. We got to go behind the velvet ropes for a more personalized tour. Highlights include watching a live session of the assembly and watching them vote, gorgeous architecture of the rotunda... More

We visited the capital and the surrounding area with a friend who has lived in Sacramento for many years --- the capital building is definitely worthwhile and very "visitor-friendly." We were quite impressed!

We wandered in, not really knowing what to expect. We arrived just before a tour started so we decided to tag along! Well, the tour guide was THE BEST tour guide, I've ever seen!!! She was extremely enthusiastic about every aspect of the journey, and made the tour fun (even for the younger kids!). The building is interesting, and has... More
