This is a gorgeous Park with local California plants and trees. Well paved walkways lead to different honorary statues and plaques. There were some homeless people sleeping in the park but it wasn't a problem. A really beautiful place to spend a couple of hours.

Take the extra time to walk the grounds and the free tour. It's worth it to see the state assembly and the state senate rooms, the photos of the past governors and just knowing you are standing in something that was built in the early 1800's.

Located in the state Capitol. Entrance is on the north side after passing the security. Admission is free to general public. One part of the museum consists of displays, artifacts, various trinkets found in each county of the state. Another part was the various offices of the past governors. Other areas worth visiting are the legislative chambers, old treasurer officer,... More

My daughter was doing a school presentation on the California Gold Rush, and this is a great place to get information on the history surrounding that.

It is an interesting place to spend an hour. You can take a guided tour or walk on your own. Worth the time.

We only walked around outside taking photos and you can get some good pictures. There were a few school parties eating outside in the sunshine.

Apparently thousands (literally) of school kids visit on weekdays, but on a Saturday morning I was the only guest on the tours, which leave at the top of the hour downstairs. On weekends, tours are the only way to visit the House and Senate chambers so I recommend it. Robin was my tour guide and was really a really excellent... More

I visited the Capitol on a Sunday morning with my mom and cousin. A group of three adults can do it in an hour if you don't want to read all the placards and things of that sort. You can do a self-tour or follow along with one of the tour guides. All tours are free which is a plus.... More
