We had a very informative guide, Amber.... She took us through the assembly and senate chambers and past the portraits of the governors... Her lesson on the history of the building and its inhabitants was excellent.... A must stop in Sacramento!

California's capitol building is one of the most beautiful buildings in California. The outside grounds with the rose garden, Vietnam Memorial, Camilla trees, and other assorted trees from around the world, are all impressive. The building itself contains a maze of staircases, side rooms, and senate and assembly rooms that are well appointed, and grand. If you're in Sacramento, one... More

The building is beautiful and has a lot to admire historically and architecturally. Hans, our tour guide, did a great job of narrating the building and the state's history. It was obvious he enjoys what he does and has an ongoing love of learning. The grounds are also peaceful and beautiful. I loved the variety of trees.

My wife and I have been to visit the California capital grounds numerous times and there is always something beautiful to see and something new to discover. The rose garden is gorgeous in the Spring and Summer. But even on a cloudy winter day it is worth checking it out. The picture below was shot on a cool, cloudy, rainy... More

The State Capitol has plenty to offer especially for those of us that love history. It is a beautiful building full of interesting facts. My favorite part is simply walking around the grounds and taking in the tree garden.

Took friends from the central valley for their first trip to the capital, and what a great time! What a great and fasinating place to take young people. From the playful pictures looking up at the underside of the Capital Dome, to the somber faces at the various memorials around the outside grounds, just a wonderful, enlightening day. I would... This is one of the finest State Capitol buildings, set in lovely grounds. The free tours are run by knowledgeable guides who give a great insight into the political processes and history of California. It can be hard to find a parking space, but it's a busy city and perseverance pays off.

If you are in the sacramento area the capitol is well worth a couple of hours. The grounds are immaculate and on a nice day it is a great place to walk around. If you are into history and government the building is a must see.

The Museum houses detailed history of California, from the indigenous population, early settlers, development, etc, etc. Loved the antiques, offices that still maintained their 'old' look and everything in here!

We visited the Capitol on a very rainy Sunday, not knowing it would be open to tour. What a great surprise to find it open, uncrowded and free! We spent about two hours checking everything out, and could have stayed longer, but got a late start and had other places we wanted to see. All the history is amazing and... More
