Running and roses

Great place to run in an urban area. A lap around the Capital Mall is just over a mile with out any major stop lights or intersections.

skip it unless you have lots of time. Best to eat in Rotunda downstairs with the politi cans with their subsidized lunches. Public welcome.

Coming from LA - I thought the capitol would be filled with businesses and reminiscent of Washington DC. It was very beautiful - even during our drought. There were lots of trees and it was very picturesque. It is an easy walk to the Tower Bridge and Old Sacramento. I would definitely recommend visiting this area - what a wealth... More

Beautiful. A must do. We experienced music being played on the capital steps. The capital building, which was free is a nice tour with lots of history of CA.

Lying just east of the capitol building, this park is a delightful oasis in the middle of the city. It's a horticultural haven, with all kinds of interesting trees and plants. There's a rose garden at the east end. There are several memorials here and there. Spend five minute or two hours--whatever you have available.

I walked around the park every morning. The Peace Rose garden is beautiful ... stop to read some of the plaques from different community groups. There are memorials honoring veterans and, of course, the capitol building itself. Give yourself a reprieve and walk through this metro green space.

I'm proud to say I am a Sacramento born native. I'm a traveler and even though I love to visit other places, I am especially proud of my city. The Capitol is beautiful and along with the park a very special place to visit. The History here is very fascinating, there is so much to learn and observe. To be... More

This is the park around the capitol - it has a great fish pond near the back entrance to the Capitol - plus a number of memorials (the Vietnam one is especially important - funds were raised by one former member of the legislature).
