The capitol park location is very nice. It's downtown and the grounds are immaculate as they surround the beautiful and majestic Capitol building itself. The rose garden is small but lovely nonetheless. Many wedding photos are taken in the park for this reason. The park draws joggers, walkers and strollers and is an oasis amongst the regular state business that... More

We were fortunate to get to travel to this park on a sunny, 70 degree day. We found the orange trees interesting, oranges in a downtown city! I even saw a bush named for Princess Diana. Lovely to visit and many beautiful flowers. Check it out.

If you are interested in plants especially ones who have been there since the beginning of the capitol this is the tour to take. Go to the tour office in the basement of the capitol and pick up a guide to the plants. We have a redwood that came from seeds in space and there are about only 5 alive... More

This park, behind the State Capitol, is a wonderful place for a picnic lunch or just to watch others. Many state workers eat outside here during good weather, which is almost always. Many also walk the perimeter of the park, which is about exactly one mile. The park contains at least one speciment of every variety of tree found in... More

We had a tree planted here in memory of our mother. It is fun to visit and watch the growth of the tree (a beautiful magnolia). Beautiful peace rose garden. Lots of memorials and huge trees. Wonderful place really.

It seems as if every county could plant some plants in this lush garden, so you meet everything from redwood to orange trees

its large and carved out of the urban center of town, but its trees given wonderful shade for picnics; a nap on a warm afternoon; or a brisk stroll at dawn. Running is a bit more of a challenge, but it can still be done safely and easy to avoid other pedestrians.

Wonderful history and incredible variety of trees. We ate oranges straight from the trees that line the sidewalks. Bring quarters for the meters, and don't miss out on the Civil War Union Veterans Memorial Grove.

Although we were there on a chilly, foggy day, we took the walk down the mall and enjoyed the statues, plantings, and most especially the Vietnam Memorial. Definitely worth the time.
