The Crest Theater is a throwback to another era. It's the kind of movie theater that you remember from the 40s and 50s. Elegant and spacious, and with a soul and history that's almost tangible. They host an amazingly diverse showing of live performances and art films, both in the main theater and downstairs. Definitely visit the Crest whenever you're... More

I love this theater both for live performances and film. Beautiful interior and great seating. The snack bar is conveniently located and has a great selection. The employees are always friendly. Great location for restaurants and parking facilities.

I went to a country music performance at the Crest. It's not my favorite music, but I wanted to experience the theater and it was worth it for that alone. The soaring heights of this venerable theater are punctuated by rich Deco-era detail and recessed ceiling illumination that is tasteful and yet dramatic. And there isn't a bad seat in... More

I am not sure if the Tower Theater or the Crest Theater are my favorite in Sacramento but both have a great atmosphere. The big screen is much better than the two smaller screens so beware. But, a tub of popcorn, a Sprite, and two hours later I feel like I have been to a mental spa!

We recently attended a concert at the Crest. What a lovely old restored theater. It's nice to have a bar inside the theater to get a glass of wine or beer before the show. The one drawback is the acoustics. The theater was not built for concerts, especially those with full bands and amps. I would have enjoyed the event... More

We saw The Mavericks in concert here. The Mavericks were excellent, the venue is decent for a concert. The acoustics were decent, some echo noises. This is an old movie theatre that still functions as a movie theatre. It is very ornate and fun to look at when has been accomplished during various remodels. There is a lower and upper... More

I am so glad the Crest theater is still going strong. I love older architecture and hate it when cities decide to rake over old buildings to build new ugly modern structures. The inside of the Crest is gorgeous, like theaters used to be in the old days - a movie palace. Can't call our movie theaters that nowadays. They... More

totally different choice of movies than even the other art theaters, festivals are fun with good pacing of films and sufficient breaks. Staff very friendly, food is good if you go for movie theater food, groups can meet in nearby places like Estelles.

That's what's great about the old Sac areas -- just like stepping back in time. This is another Sac 'institution' and one I would like to get my hands on just to make sure it stays 'of era'.

The Crest Theater is located in downtown Sacramento, CA. It has been refurbished, and is one of our few remaining authentic, old-style theaters from the past. The films shown in it are high-quality, often "art" films. Annually it has the amateur Film Festival, "A Place Called Sacramento." Other excellent and cutting-edge films are shown--and I plan to see both "Argo"... More
