The Capitol was restored in the late 1980s at a price many considered exorbitant. But locals now agree it was well worth it. A delight for kids and adults. Many state offices restored to be just as they were in the 1880s.

the interior was all redone in the 70s? it really looks fantastic. Lots of places for nice photos and you can see our state government in action. Do not miss walk through the park that adjoin the grounds.

Beautiful old building with the original dome. Wonderfully restored spaces inside. This is where the business of the State is conducted. The Governor's Office is here, as well as the Lt. Gov., and the Senate and Assembly chambers.

It looks as the national capitol in small and several of the rooms are to day in use as a museum. A round tour with a guide is a must and the guy at the reception is funny

We visited here not really knowing what to expect and found it really interesting. It's amazing how the place looks original considering it's all "new" as such.

Very Nice Capitol. I visited on a Saturady and no traffic in downtown. Also got to see the House and Senate Chambers. Very nice park around the area also. Highly recommend it. Free also. Just as good if not better than Texas Capitol.

Apart from the fact that I just love sacramento, it's a place for a relaxed, laid back, easy holiday for young families , this building is an easy but a good place for younger kids as well on an afternoon. It's only a couple of hours visit and is an easy walk around. Free tours are available at frequent intervals... More

I did a self-tour and enjoyed both the outside grounds and the inside exhibits. There were lots of interesting things and the atmosphere was pleasant.

We took the official tour and it was fantastic. The guide taught us about CA history, how laws are passed/created in CA, the representative, the building, etc, etc, etc..... It was one of the best tours ever. The tour takes about 90 mins, but it was fantastic. So strongly recommended. Also the cathedral is really close so visit not only... More

Loved the architecture and the stunning exterior Christmas trim- a lone Christmas Tree studded with thousands of lights.
