We were able to get a private tour arranged by our Senator's office. We have also done the group tour. Both give you a real appreciation of the craftsmanship of the era, as well as what the restoration entailed. It provides an authentic glimpse into the not too distant past.

The grounds are beautiful and you can tour certain parts of the Capital. Interesting if you like history or just pretty grounds.

Our tour guide was from Belgium, and very knowledgeable. The Capitol is beautiful. The legislature was in session, which added a fascinating glimpse of politicians and lobbyists busy at their work. Jerry Brown's portrait is incredible. Very worthwhile.

An interesting building with nice architecture. Although it is still fully operational also some of the historic rooms are kept in the original state. You can walk around freely or join a tour. Funny guy in the basement selling coffee.

The CA capitol is a great place to visit- the building is beautiful as well as the grounds around it. You can do a free 45 min tour that leaves every hour. The tour guide was very informative, but also funny and genuinely loves his job. Parking was a little difficult as most of the close parking is just on... More

Beautiful gardening, historical trees, with lots to see! Try to go when the legislators are in session. It's nice to sit in the balcony and listen in!

It was nice to visit the Capitol Building in Sacramento for the first time. After going through security, it was easy to find one's way around; I found the Senate and Assembly Chambers beautiful and interesting. The staff was helpful and funny.

Beautiful building with a lot of history. I love the workmanship on the stairs woodwork. Too bad that you have to go through this security checks.
