this is a very interesting and educational tour. I like to see the source where we as Californians are lied too and screwed over by the politicians. Nothing like seeing it first hand.

What a great feature of Sacramento. It's a beautiful air-conditioned place with tons of history to learn, and feel. The even give you free guided tours. Be prepared to go through security so don't be bringing your favorite hunting knife.

There are guided tours. Be prepared to do a lot of walking including stairs. Tour guides are very knowledgeable. You get to see both legislative houses, the old governors office, a bit of interesting history. I suggest park in a garage rather than feeding parking meters.

In 1850, the immigration of thousands of "Forty-niners" in search of gold prompted California's admission as the 31st state into the Union, thus creating the need for a state capital. Even after Sacramento became the permanent seat of California's government in 1854, there were several unsuccessful efforts to relocate the Capitol to Oakland (1858-59), San Jose (1875-78, 1893, 1903), Berkeley... Shame on us for not visiting the Capitol until now. The Capitol is the Museum, so don't get confused when they refer to is as the Capitol Museum and you think there's another building. Free hourly tours begin at 0900 and you go to B27 (basement floor) after getting searched by Xray machines and metal detectors at the front door.... More

We spent the day in Sacramento with our 8 and 10 year old. I was a little reluctant to book a 45 minute tour because the kids were tired and I wasn't sure how enthused they would be. Thank goodness I was wrong! Richard (?) was our tour guide, and he was fantastic! He really engaged our kids and we... More

The capital is an amazing building to behold. I love walking around the building and seeing it from all sides. My personal favorite is all the trees that surround the capital building. They are huge and all numbered and labeled. Some of the trees I had never seen before. It was so cool, that this was my second trip back

Beautiful building with unique architecture in and out. The capitol grounds are great and safe to walk around. Don't miss the fallen lawmakers memorial across the street fro the front entrance. Great sculptures.

Checked out the Capitol and got a chance to see many of our political figures in action. Quite an impressive building.

If you see nothing, but the Capitol while visiting our fair city, you will have made the right choice. It is a gem and a treasure. You will receive a full gambit of everything interesting in life! The building itself is the finest of all state capitols with amazing architecture and history and art. The grounds is beautifully landscaped with... More
