This place was low attended. I assumed it was because of Black Friday after Thanksgiving, but the place wasn't very good. The first display area was on soda and diabetes and the next area was on Japanese Internment. The first floor items were political or irrelevant. The second floor displays were focused on the native heritage of the state. This... More

An interesting quick museum trip, it is worth it. Not enough time in the museum is spent on the early pre european California. Did enjoy the pieces on the Missions. Quite interesting. Not to sure if the Maria Shriver section did much for me. The Japanese internment piece was well done and glad to see it.

Traveled in May! Using Sacramento Gold Card for the hotel guests! They at time had exhibit about "Junk Drinks" Interesting, many ill effects for those that drink these kind drinks! I so glad I cannot stand drinks as these, the carbonation makes me vomit! I also like hands on exhibits! One area, get piece paper, rub over the picture! Rubbed... More

I can't believe they charged us $8.50 each. We were out of there in 15 minutes. Like so many 'museums' these days this one is geared for elementary school field trips. Lots of space, lots of photo exhibits. Wow. It's no wonder we were the only ones there. What a waste of state funds. T

So many interesting exhibits - something for everyone culminating with the "wall" - a moving and patriotic piece that you must see and hear about to understand. Hidden gem of a museum.

As a fourth grade teacher, I've been brining my classes on field trips here for years. It is well worth the time to take a trip through. Don't miss Constitution Wall out the back doors. Ask for directions; it's not obvious.

It's been about 20 years since we were last there and went back on a whim when we were in the area. Close to the river, shopping, restaurants, etc. Definately worth a couple hours of your time.

on different trips over the years, there is always something new. The stories of the individual people and objects is compelling. Might be hard for visually impaired people, I read aloud for someone who was with me.

If you lived in California or watched TV, you already know what is inside this museum. It really just seemed like a review of what I already knew about this state. There seems to be very little new things to learn or items to see that I could have seen on the internet. There is very little about the early... More

I used to LOVE this museum; so much I even voulnteered here. So much has changed; and not for the better. I loved making the exhibits and help curating (sic?). But it amount they have to offer and show you that doesn't ever change is very little. About 55% of the museum is permanent exhibits and never change. & the... More
