My mistake. I thought this was Stanford House but it isn't. Please look at my review there, which was positive. If I don't type this, it will come out as a negative rating.

Beautiful Victorian Gothic mansion full of history. Take the guided tour to learn a lot about the architecture and some California politics. Governor Ronald (and Nancy) Reagan were the last to live there. Wasn't to their tastes and they moved elsewhere, leaving it in 1967 to become a museum.
A definite stop for any "tourist" or any local that wants to learn more about your town. The mansion is beautifully kept... it has original furnishings and you can see the changes through the years from Sacramento's wild west days to it's last governor in residence (1960's). The docents give a wonderful tour and the cost is minimal - a...

They put a little sign in the driveway that said tours were sold out but we didn't see it before parking on the street and feeding 2 hours of quarters into the meter! While they would not let my 6 year old daughter and I into the mansion, the lady in the gift shop said we were welcomed to walk...

We had a wonderful visit tot he governor's mansion. No problem parking. The tour leader was terrific-he gave us a lot of history and interacted well with all the visitors. He kept the tour moving, so it never got bogged down, even with lots of questions from the visitors. The rooms are really well decorated, and the anecdotes from the...

We arrived almost at closing but were happy we did because we were given a few extras on our 'private' tour. We were allowed up onto the top floor which is mostly used for storage but they hope to some day open to the public. It was interesting to see the large rooms where the governors slept and where the...

It is interesting if you enjoy historical places. The air-conditioning is not state of the art (window a/c in most rooms) so wouldn't recommend going on a hot day.
For a nominal fee off $5 pp to maintain the place. It was very informative. The furnishings and the carpets are well preserved. The tour guide was really good. She gave us a lot of personel stories about some of the famous residents and their guests. A must visit. There is a beautiful park not to far away.
the mansion is beautiful. the neighborhood surrounding the mansion has gone down hill, there are lots of homeless in the area
Beautiful old home, but not suitable for security in these times. Fun to imagine the Browns chasing their children up to bed or the the Reagan's trying to get some sleep when their bedroom was located within feet of a busy city street.
