My family met up in Sacramento for a fun day with the kids. The little ones really enjoyed this zoo and it was perfect size for them, it's really small. We only spent about an hour and a half walking the whole zoo. Unfortunately, since it was later in the afternoon, many of the animals were not out for us... More

This is a nice attraction if you want to see a small selection of wild animals and not have to allocate a lot of time. If you took two hours, you'd have read everything and seen everything for sure, including the gift shop. Enjoy a leisurely lunch if you want- you'll have time. The place was clean and the restaurant... More

Had a fun day with our two year old granddaughter on her first trip to the zoo. My daughter and son-in-law were delighted to see the laughs the little one displayed upon seeing the various animals live and up close. I took both of my daughters there nearly 40 years ago and am so happy to see the major improvements... More

We knew from reviews that this zoo was small and we easily saw it in an hour. It was nicely arranged and had pieces of animal art inside and outside the gates. My favorite area was the giraffe enclosure. There were four giraffes near enough for observation. The reptile house is also very nice. Senior admission was $11 and the... More

I was so pleased with this zoo. My husband being from NY and myself from a city near Detroit, we have high standards for zoos but this one was a lot of fun. They had great exhibits and because it is small you feel that you get up close and personal with the animals. And on a Thursday afternoon, it... More

I visit here about once a month with my son, two-year-old granddaughter, and his newborn. It's fun and lots to see. There's a nice playground area for the two-year-old when she wants some down time from seeing and learning about the well-displayed animals. The employees and volunteers are friendly and upbeat. This zoo is not large, but it is a... More

Last year I bought a family membership to the zoo and had the fun of attending with my grandson at least twice a month. The Sacramento Zoo has some newer exhibits which are especially nice - the giraffe Encounter and the newly opened Small Wonders. There are shady paths, plenty of places to sit on benches and a small playground... More

They have just finished remodeling an area of the zoo to give the animals more room in a native area (ie trees, native plants, etc) It has more unusual animals rather than the usual elephants etc. They are a breeding Zoo so you might see babies (when they are big enough) from animals that are endangered somewhere in the world. They... More

The Sacramento zoo is not the largest zoo or one with the most animals, but if you have a free hour or more, it is a well laid out zoo with a decent selection of exhibits. Although my wife would have loved to see some elephants, they don't have any of those. They do currently have some lion cubs who... More

There are 5 giraffes in residence here and the viewing platform to observe them is very well laid out. It is elevated so, if you are lucky, you can be eye to eye with one or more of these lovely creatures. We went on a weekday morning so were able to see all the exhibits easily.....This is a rather small... More
