This was a great experience for us coming from Australia. We have our history also but is was nice to see how things were in the US back then. Well worth seeing if ever in Sacramento. Lots of hidden little secrets.

The fort is a true treasure of Sacramento. It is a great place to explore with children or adults. The history is intense the more you read about it. I would also recommend the Native American museum on the same site.

I'm reading that it was recently renovated. Honestly, haven't been here since 1992 and can't recall what the differences would be. It still looks like a historic fort and mostly rebuild and preserved nicely indeed. The employees seemed right friendly and nice. Was an enjoyable and peaceful walking tour and relatively low cost admittance.

This is a good place to visit to learn something new about the capital. It is a self guided tour that cost $5( same as the Indian museum next door). There are many exhibits that start to narrate as you walk up to them. You get to learn and explore and they also have live demonstrations. A good place for... More

Visited Sutter's Mill to be able to see where the Gold Rush so much history began. Under restoration, the area is beautiful and a walk along the water and through the park is enjoyable.

See all that the first people experienced. Areas set up throughout the Park to show what it was like to live there.

It was only $3 to get in (don't know if this was regular price or discount due to construction), but it was cheap at twice the price. Nice historic rooms in the fort so you could see what life was like inside. I imagine when the remodel is done and there are more staff, it will be much more lively.... More

Long walk to reach the destination, but very much worth it. The heights of California history is preserved for a fascinating visit.
