Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

Frog's Leap was our favorite vineyard visit during our recent trip to Napa. It's reservation only, but you can see why once you experience the level of service and attention-- definitely not your giant tour bus- one-size-fits all winery. We loved sitting on the covered porch under heat lamps and cozy blankets. Our server was full of information about the... More

Great wine producing with a interesting philosophy. The wines are organic and don't use irrigation in the vineyards. Congrats

This review is not about the wine, as everyone's taste is different. We booked the wine tasting on the patio. The setting is gorgeous, especially when the sun goes down. You can easily book online and have to give the number of all guests in your party. However, when you arrive, they ask you if everybody is going to taste.... More

It was my friend's first trip to Napa, and I wanted to start her off with a wonderful tour before we began our day of tasting. This was a perfect tour, and I have to say it's the most beautiful winery I have visited in Napa, and they were friendly. The wines were fine, on par for the price point.... More

We were in the area, and this family owned winery was recommended to us. The setting is charming and very comfortable. You are seated at your own table for the tasting. Our server was Nick, who was one of the most knowledgeable, friendly and informative servers we have ever met. The wines were served at a comfortable pace, and were... More

The harvest is finished by November but on a warmish December day we relaxed on the porch (veranda) under heat lamps, taking in the view of the vineyard and gardens as we slowly sipped and tasted a variety of wonderful wines and some jams too. (the Peach jam was divine and the Plum exquisite). And choosing a specific wine is... More

I like the idea of sustainable farming and loved the farm/vineyard. The tasting was nice, but the wines were just okay.

I really enjoyed this winery! My husband and I scheduled a tasting online--very convenient! We were seated at our own table on the back patio to overlook the beautiful grounds. They gave us a small cheese plate as well. The vineyards, gardens, house, etc are open for you to explore. Very pleasant!

I made a reservation for 11 for the Garden Tasting last Saturday and it was excellent, just what we needed. We were looking for a casual tasting to begin our day (after a winemaker dinner and tasting the day before). We were greeted by Brandie and shown to the garden where we could explore the beautiful grounds, sit down at... More

We always stop here when in Napa. The wines are all pretty good, but I'm partial to the lighter whites at this location. I'm usually a medium bodied red wine fan. The best part is the tasting area. You are seated in a gorgeous modern farmhouse patio, where you are served a flight of wine complimented by a cheese and... More
