The winery’s 14,000 square feet of caves were designed and built by hand by Friedrich Gruber of Gutenstein Austria. The caves are finished with handmade Austrian brick recovered from sites in and around Vienna and showcases select works from the Halls’ art collection. Deep inside the caves resides a dazzling reception area for private tastings and entertaining. The room’s spectacular chandelier, designed by Donald Lipski and Jonquil LeMaster, is dressed in hundreds of Swarovski crystals. « less

We were looking forward to the Artisan Cave and Winery Tour at Hall Rutherford and we were fortunate to be guests of friends who were Hall wine club members. Otherwise, the cost for this winery tour by appointment only is $60. Driving up the long private road, you reach the gates of Hall winery. You call in from the phone... More

We immensely enjoyed both the tour and grounds of Hall-Rutherford. They are on the top of the mountain, so the scenery is gorgeous. The tour guide, Rob, was very knowledgable. The artwork alone is worth making the trip! The tree chandelier is stunningly beautiful and well worth seeing. The wines were very nice, and we enjoyed the cheese tray--very yummy!

This was our first winery tour on our visit to Napa/Sonoma and I must say, it is EXQUISITE! Rob was our guide and was so fun and knowledgable. We were greeted with glasses of wine and instantly blown away by the beautiful grounds, buildings, and art. Everything around you is ART! I will forever remember our visit here and will... More

If you enjoy art with your wine you must visit this winery. The Halls have spared no expense in creating magnificent caves embellished with artful treasures. The tour was informative and relaxing and the wine is wonderful.

We made reservations a week ahead for the tour and tasting. Part of the GEMS program, so that was an extra perk. Not at all hard to find, just follow the hill up to the top. Dial in to get entrance gate open. Arrive early so that you can enjoy the art and the views. Soon enough a glass of... More

Hall, Rutherford (NOT to be confused with sister operation in St. Helena) is well worth the cost and effort to get to. The views from the reception area are fantastic...get there a little before your tour time for some pictures. Our guide was very informative about the winery and wines. Won't spoil the experience with too many details, but the... More

My girlfriends and I had a private tour and tasting. The view is incredible. The tasting room was gorgeous. The tour was very informative and we were able to taste 4 wines. All of which we loved and ordered. This winery is one of very few that serve cheese and breadsticks with the tasting which helps to cleanse the palette.... More

My wife and I are Hall club members so we know this wine. This was our first visit to the Rutherford locations. A little had to find, and once you get there, fantastic views of the northern valley. The story behind the cave was great to hear and the tasting in the cave - with the chandelier was really cool.... More

Our group of 16 thoroughly enjoyed this experience. It was a casual, comfortable experience. Felt like we were in a friend's home, sampling their hospitable wines. Our guide was fine, the tour, entertaining and informative. Different from the Opus One tour, this seemed to be more of an art and grounds tour than a wine-making tour, which was a nice... More

Hall Rutherford is certainly an experience to have. The grounds and views are beautiful. The tasting room simply spectacular. It would be a dream to celebrate a special occasion in their dining room with the grand sparkling chandelier. The wines are good - the Katheryn Hall is the best and worth the price, in my mind. HOWEVER, the hospitality is... More
