David was our tour guide and he was just great! Cakebread was one of our more informative wine tastings. The tour was interactive and personal rather than watching a bunch of barrels. BONUS points for some original wine humor - we left with a great chard and a smile on our face. Can we ask for more ?

During a visit to Cakebread Cellars in Rutherford, CA, several years ago, I signed up for the Bakers Club. As a member of the Club, I receive periodic selections of high quality wine delivered to my door throughout the year. So far, I have not been disappointed in Club selections. Bakers Club staff has proven to be very responsive and... More

This was one of my favorites, because of the staff. Very friendly and unpretentious. Cozy atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a very good tasting selection.

I am a white wine drinker, and my husband is a red wine drinker. We both found wine we like at Cakebread. We loved the small feel of the winery and the personal attention we got from our guide, Nancy. We also really appreciated the military discount offered. It was a great visit, and we will go back when we... More

My husband and I have only really gotten into red wines in the past couple of years and love Cakebread wines so it was a no brainer to visit this winery while we spent the day in Napa this past weekend. We called to make an appointment for the reserve tasting and the representative was so friendly and efficient. Our... More

The wine at Cakebread is so complex and delicious. Be sure to call ahead to get reservations. The tour is worth it and the Chard and Cab are out of this world.

Cakebread had been recommended by a friend who had said it was her favorite winery in Napa. The wines were good (great cabernet) and the people were both friendly and knowledgable about the wines and region. Despite this fact, I wouldn't rate our overall experience very high. Our tasting at Cakebread felt much less personal than the other wineries and... More

I have been all over Sonoma and Napa and I would have to say this is one of least favorite wineries of all. The man doing to tours is absolute rude. The wine is terribly overpriced for the taste to be so poor. Save your time and skip this one. Strangest part is that the "waiting room" and tasting room... More

It's a very commercial setting not the welcoming feel you get at many of the smaller wineries. You actually buy ticket in one room, then wait for your official tour time. The wines are very good, and the staff knowledgeable, but I'd expect to have at least one tasting fee refunded after spending $200 on wine.
