Description: Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently...
Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines. Vintner Hall of Fame inductee Miljenko "Mike" Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the Chardonnay he crafted won the 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best of France. Mike then partnered with Austin Hills to open their family-owned-and-operated winery in 1977. Committed to natural winegrowing and sustainability, we farm our five estate vineyards without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use our passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines.

Host seemed to be absorbed with woman alone next to us, although he did ponder a moment or two to pour another sample for us. He didn't tell us anything about the wines, or the establishment. These were extremely stingy pours. We noticed, because other people had much more in their glasses. Definitely not worth the 20 bucks that it... More

Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to review our tasting room. We are very disappointed and surprised to read your review. We work very hard to provide not only great wines but great service. While our tasting room is not luxurious, we feel it reflects our attention to what matters most: our winemaking. Do you remember... More

My wife and I stopped at Grgich Hills just as it was opening. We were greeted by Justin, who told us the history of the winery while pouring our flights. Very interesting story to go along with some very good wines, we especially liked the Merlot and the Cab and ended up buying each one....If you have the time take... More

We liked this winery, but did not have a good tasting experience as our server kept leaving (we think to restock wine for all the tasting areas) and we would wait and wait for him to come back for our next pour. Thankfully we had a pass for a free tasting from Hotel Yountville, so we were not out any... More

We stopped in for a tasting flight and found the host to be knowledgeable about the history of the winery as well as the process behind the winemaking. We loved the chardonnay and eagerly purchased a bottle. The next day, we meandered onward toward the coast, but saved our bottle for the last night of our vacation. Tonight, on a... More

The wines are just average, the experience was very average, and the winery was okay but not the prettiest. I actually really disliked the wines which I didn't expect but I recall liking one of their wines in the past. The best thing about the winery was the dog laying in the reception area. I like the story behind the... More

Dear Blue Breezy, Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to review our tasting room. We are very disappointed and surprised to read your review of our wines: over the 39 years we’ve been a winery, we’ve received high scores from professional wine journalists, sommeliers and wine lovers plus, we have been selected to be served in... Our tour guide was a little asian girl, I forgot her name, but she was great! Very enthusiastic. It was cool to see their organic farming practices. We got to see their fermentation processes and their library and so much more! We even got to try the grapes before they became wine. There is so much history woven in this... More

Justin led us an historic tour of Grgich Hills. Justin is "part of the family" and is a dynamic, and informative host. Enjoyed all the history of the great Paris showdown of 1976, and the living history of the Grgich operation, and their efforts to make great wines. Also loved the personal conversation in the private tasting room, at the... More

Thank you for your visit and for taking the tour with Justin Hills, the youngest son of co-founder Austin Hills. We're very glad you enjoyed the personal conversation, which is something we also enjoy, and, of course, our wines. We hope to see you back soon! More

The tour was amazing and informative. From the history, tasting the wines, we were even encouraged to taste the grapes. Outstanding presentation
