Not as impressive in terms of location as some of the others, given that it's on a corner in Rutherford, but that does make it more accessible, so that pays benefits. No appointment necessary. A good range of wines, and they did not disappoint. Very convenient to the Rutherford Grill for lunch (see my other review), which worked great!

We came to Elizabeth Spencer with friends who are members and really enjoy the wines. We are quite agreed and are seriously considering joining the club as well. We were attended to by Kathy who obviously loves her job and delights in telling Elizabeth and Spencer's story. They may buy grapes from other vineyards but does that make them any... More

This is a cute little winery in an old post office. The inside area is VERY small, so on a day when the weather isn't great this wouldn't be a very good place to visit. However, the day we visited it was beautiful and sunny and we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine next to the planter boxes of flowers.... More

Wonderful reds and whites, and great variety. Their cabs and red blends were perhaps the best we have ever experienced - great on the palate, rich and smooth, long-lasting taste memory. Their whites were very interesting too - a pinot blanc followed by a red blend were perfect for our Thanksgiving feast. Indeed, we couldn't imagine a better pairing. The... More

No doubting they make truly fine elegant wines here. I can understand why they are, from my point of view, too expensive. We were well received, and one of the owners took the time to speak with us, but the tastes are homeopathic (looks like a table spoon of wine in the glass). The standard tasting for 4, maybe 5... This is a darling tasting room with a beautiful patio. The pourer was informative and provided great service. Unfortunately, while the wine was good, it wasn't meant for our pallate. I'd give it a try, as I'm the first to admit each has their own tastes and one can't rate someone else's wine.

This place was recommended by another winery - way to support one another! The tasting room is in the old post office (so cool!) - small space but they make it work. The staff was knowledgeable and a lot of fun. We learned a lot about Elizabeth and Spencer - such a cute story. Parking was easy. The patio garden... More

Traveling with a large group can be difficult. But not here, our server Tracey was the right person for us. Oh, lol, and the wine is great!

We had a great time at Elizabeth Spencer Winery. We originally went to a tasting at Beaulieu Vineyard and wandered over to Elizabeth Spencer. Peter, our wine server from Denver, was A-MAZING!!! The staff were all personable and very inviting. We spent over an hour chatting and tasting. The tasting room was small but there was an outdoor patio, very... More

While the tasting experience was good when we were there back in 2007, having the wine some 4 years later was even better. Some of the best wines I've ever had (2004 Cab Sauv and 2005 Petit Verdot) and we went back in Sept 2013 for more...that experience was even better. Ask to have your tasting on the patio!!
