I live close to the river. You fish or hire a fishing boat company and have a blast on the river. There are trails and beautiful parks and camp grounds along the river in Red Bluff ca. Red Bluff is a quaint little sweet historical town and also has the Rodeo big time at certain times of the year. Go... More

The river is beautiful and has wonderful walking trails. A great place to just hang out by the river is at the Sundial Bridge.

The view! Amazing. Fishing is the best in the fall (can't remember the dates that one can fish.) So close to everything, so beautiful, and there's SO MUCH beach along the river but it's really not for swimming - it's a Fisherpersons paradise. I LOVE Redding especially spending time with family on the Sacramento river- the Sundial bridge goes Right... More

After a recent trip with Jack Trout on the the Lower Sac, my busy days in Silicon Valley are way more manageable. Jack took me on an amazing stretch of the river where we fished all day and he made me a very yummy lunch riverside. I was able to check off another species on my fly fishing list on... More

At least once a year, I go fly fishing on the Sacramento River in Redding. The Fly Shop handles everything; tackle, the right flies for that day, lunch, AND great guides. Tradition requires a dinner at Jack's steak house. As good a steak as you will find in the Bay Area.

This river has excellent year round fishing for trout and seasonal for salmon, but from Redding to Red Bluff the access to the river and fishing from the shore is limited to a few locations which tend to be crowded and overfished. If you have a boat or hire a guide the fishing can be very good.

I have gone back to the Lower Sac for one day float trips three times over the last three years and I have to say that this part of the river provides excellent fishing and lots of fun. Last week's fish averaged 17" and were great fighters and the breeze on the river was just enough to cool down the... More

This is one of the premier fishing places on the planet. You do not need a guide or a boat to fish. You can do quite well from the shore with either lures or live bait. It is also great for fly fishing. The trout will give you a run for your money, the salmon are great and the steel head... More

A beautiful example of God's work. Only problem is since the Uglification of California Act it's hard to see it from the streets anymore. :(
