We used to go to French Gulch/Clear Lake when I was a kid growing up in Redding. I brought by boys to explore and they had a great time!

The BLM put plenty of time and effort into restoring this watershed after the damage done from mining and years of dumping. It is now a great get away for day recreation.

This trail still being fairly new is a great way to see of the nature at its best. Great view point with parking lot, restroom, wheel chair, strollers easy to use in this area. Over look into the creek and see the fish.

This would be a nice recreational area but we found no place that we could walk as there were so many broken bottles and trash. My friend nearly cut his heel off when he was wading and stepped on the bottom of a broken beer bottle. Had to have 22 stitches.

This is a great spot for just walking around at or taking pictures. If you only stay on the trail though, it's not as exciting. Venture out a little but be safe. There are lots of little waterfalls you can't see from the parking area.

its so great in the summer. The water is still chilly in the summer but releaving in the hot summer heat. a little over crowded during summer days and stupid people tend to litter A LOT! there are some awesome forty foot cliffs to jump from at the gorge over look. watch out for rattle snakes!!! a 10 minute drive... Drive west out Clear Creek Road in southern Redding and head for the Clear Creek overlook. There is a pavilion and picnic tables, bathrooms, it is very nice. Walk the trails to discover this canyon that is rugged yet accessible and a great swimming opportunity. Fun for kids, teens, adults. So beautiful!
