Drenched in fog most of the year, this lighthouse is one of the foggiest in the country, and is a great whale-watching spot in the fall and spring.

I love visiting lighthouses and this one did not disappoint. There was enough information but not too much that it was overwhelming. The most notable things when deciding to visit or not would be the long drive out to the lighthouse and 308 steps down to the lighthouse. The drive out is on a poorly maintained road and we drove... The drive to this attraction is quite magnificent to say the least. There are approximately 300 stairs to climb down to the lighthouse and then back up. Nice view though, also at the bottom there were lots of flies and it smelled like feces.

Interesting lighthouse, apparently one of most authentic ones in US. It's quite interesting that it's pretty down below the cliffs.

Easily one of the most beautiful and gorgeous views. The drive to the place is a bit long, so be prepared to drive up the narrow curvy roads! And be sure to have a full tank gas. I do not know if this is for all the networks, but ours did not have signal for most parts, So that was... More

There are 500+ steps down to the lighthouse. But, I made it. Just go slow going back up. Fun to read some pages from an old diary there from one of the keepers. Continue out to the Elk reserve. We saw a huge herd, heard the bulls bulging. Old farmhouse area to tour at the end with a hill to... More

Ride from San Mateo to Point Reyes was awesome..!!! But make sure that you have full tank gas because the stretch to Light House doesn't have any fuel stations in 18 miles. There are 300 steep & narrow down steps to reach the Light House climbing back could be very tiring for senior citizens & persons with heart conditions. Don't... More

worth the walk down to this as you will see a lot of nature provided the fogs not in. To avoid disappointment pick you day carefully for a weather and b the lighthouse is shut some days. How dumb is that. After the lighthouse explore the rest of park which is wonderful including the beaches and trails. do some reading before... More

We visited on a Saturday, arrived to park around 11:00. There is a small parking lot at the top (you still have a ways to walk), we parked on the side of the road at the first available spot. There is a nice little lookout where we could hear some sea lions way down below, also noticed some harp seals... More

I have heard from many people that this is a must see. It is a bit of a drive out to the lighthouse...BUT...worth it. Gorgeous views along the way and spectacular once you get there. 360'. We went on a Wednesday when the light house was closed to visitors. Not a problem as the views and the observation area is... More

I think we would have enjoyed this more if it hadn't been so foggy...could barely see the lighthouse. And, it's a LONG drive from the main road out to the lighthouse, which was a bit monotonous...we did see a LOT of cows though:) And, note that the Visitor Center and Lighthouse Stairs are CLOSED on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. There's also... More
