It is a bit of a drive up to the lighthouse, but I actually enjoyed driving through the enormous ranch. The views from the top are some of the best views I've seen. Be aware that the walkway down to the lighthouse does close, so check the days and times prior to your trip. Even if the actual lighthouse is... More

Very beautiful place. A bit of a bumpy walk at times and the bridge swerves a bit..didn't like that, but we are all okay :-). Definitely worth the walk - and you can stop along the way. Layering clothing would be wise. We didn't experience wind, but it is cooler in certain places. Bring a bottled water with you, and... More

OK, the first thing to say about this is that its a fair drive to get here from the highway BUT it is worth the effort. We went to Drakes beach first. Got there about 10.15 and there were no other cars in the car park so we had the whole beach to ourselves for 30 minutes before 3 other... More

Neat place to see - it is a very long drive out to the lighthouse - so have a full tank of gas. Not much to see on your way out - lighthouse is nice - long way down the steps to see it - be prepared to walk back UP the steps.. VERY WINDY!!!

What a drive to get there. It was slow, curving and narrow, but the lighthouse area and beaches are worth it. As the guy driving, it was fun (no motorhome). Unlike all the other SF tourist areas that had no available parking, Point Reyes seemed to always a handful of parking spots. The beach near by was almost empty. There... More

This location sang to my heart. The scenery is divine and moving, and I hope that you take the time and make the effort to get to the lighthouse. One of the most spectacular views I have ever seen.

The views at the lighthouse are really something else, and all of the children we saw were just having a ball in/around the lighthouse. In all honesty, I thought the lighthouse would be kitschy and lame, but I really enjoyed it and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our visit. The drive out to the lighthouse... More

Friends recommended Point Reyes National Seashore as a "must-see" while visiting San Francisco, so we spent two nights at the lovely Osprey Peak Bed and Breakfast in Inverness, close to the northern entrance to the Seashore, and 20 miles from the lighthouse. The mostly uphill drive along Francis Drake Blvd. was spectacular, with picturesque marshlands, abundant elk, historic cattle ranches,... More

The walk from the carpark to the point itself is easy, not very intense. However, the stairs from the point to the lighthouse itself are a bit of a hike. The stairs have resting points on multiple levels, but still. The lighthouse does provide a stunning view, so it's worth the exercise!

As we drove in, I thought we'd never get there but the drive was worth it. The views of the beach and cliffs are simply breathtaking and the lighthouse is a very cool piece of history. The stairway was closed when I was there but I would have loved to walk all the way down (300 steps). Closes at 4:30... More
