I have lived in Marin for 35 years and this is my favorite hike. It's about 9.5 miles round trip and you will see not only amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and Tomales Bay, but you will see LOTS of tule elk along the way.

It was such a beautiful day to be trapped in a full size SUV because there are very few spot wide enough for you to pull over and just take in the view. Once I got off the main freeway (101), there were some perfect winding and twisting roads with some beautiful landscape to see. This was my first time... More

We went on a week day after most schools were in session. We arrived to a picnic area and found ourselves alone in this gorgeous setting. We had a lovely picnic while watching the birds and the bay. We were at one of the state beaches, had our dog with us, thus couldn't go down to the beaches. There were... More

After many years away from Marin Co., our coastal trip this year had to include Tomales Bay and Pt. Reyes seashore. Soon all the oyster fishing may be closed. What fun looking at the old buildings, the bay itself, stand knee deep in oyster shells! These workers deserve our support!

We were going to try the paddle board activity but after seeing how low the water was, decided against it. No kayaking either.

My sister and brother in law took me to this place called Tomales Oyster Bay for a picnic. It was quite a distance from Pinole, California. Along the way it was a relaxing scenic drive toward intended destination. Especially after a week of constant traffic I experienced, the break will be a useful relief. When we arrived at the place... Due to the proximity of this area to the ocean, it can be plagued with fog in the summer, limiting visibility and the ability to see the Tule Elk. The walk to the beach is also moderately uphill and down.

It was nice to getaway for the day with good food, good company and great memories! =) We went during Memorial Day weekend and it was busy but fun. It was lively and enjoyable. To get really close to nature, we went for the ultimate 13 mile hike. I'm still sore for days after. Beautiful views of the bay, the... More
