Went to the top of the lighthouse for the views but ended up getting a great history lesson. Don't miss it

We stopped here on our way to Mendocino. We caught the last tour of the lighthouse. It's a bit annoying that the lighthouse keeper kepts rushing me along because he wanted to close it down and go home. I share the same sentiment as the other reviewer that the fee is a bit steep at $7 per adult. The kid... More

Maybe if we were more into lighthouses? It was a 30 minute drive from our rental house, and they charged quite a bit ($7.50/adult) to go to the top. If you just wanted the museum (which was one room with placards) that was still $5. We ended up not paying for any of it and just walking through the gift... More

This is a fun gem for visitors and a great spot for whale watching in season. The original iron stairs are not difficult to climb to reach a stunning view of the coast. I live nearby and never tire of showing off this hidden gem to visitors, young and old alike.

Climbing up to the top and viewing the ocean and surrounding area was marvelous. Also seeing the lighthouse lens in the museum was amazing - what an incredible invention that was.

The Views are spectacular, but if you want elegant accommodations this is NOT the place to stay. The website pictures seem to imply a luxury cabin's. Ours was NOT. Our dining room chairs were stained and there were a few holes in the carpet. The dresser in our bedroom was broken. We had to take a drawer out all together... More

Fabulous day trip to the fascinating site with gr8 views and 30 degrees cooler than the triple digit temps along Hwy 101. Allow extra time for the drive along Hwy 128 which was very curvy to start and again on the turn-off from Boonville to the lighthouse. The fee is $7.50 for adults/seniors and $1 for kids and was worth... More

The lighthouse and museum had been on our "to do" list for some time. It did not disappoint. The day we attended was "free day" to go up the 140+ stairs in the lighthouse (with a docent). The museum staff was knowledgable and pleasant.

The lighthouse is an interesting place to visit, but stay somewhere else in the area. We stayed for two nights in the Assistant Keeper's House in a building that was built in 1965. The few repairs that have been done have been done poorly. The bathrooms are impossibly small, the carpets are old and torn, the dining room chairs are... More

The view of the rugged coastline and Stornetta- Point Arena Public Lands National Monument takes your breath away. Viewing a portion of the bluff trail before walking it from the entrance on lighthouse rd to the old loran station gave me an idea of how much time it would take to walk and a sneak view of caves and water...
