After staying at Elk Cove on HWY 1, we drove south about 13 miles to the lighthouse at Point Arena - beautiful setting and to our great delight the entrance to the Stonetta Public Lands was just a 1/4 mile before the lighthouse on the left. Absolutely stunning shoreline along the bluffs and the wind was terrific! However, the greatest... More

The Point Arena Lighthouse and Museum is worth a brief stop. The museum is small but provides some interesting history of the lighthouse and the nearby coast. The view from the top of the lighthouse on a clear day is well worth the brief stop.

Great for kids and adults! Very informative and scenic. If afraid of heights not for you - a little more expensive than thought at $7.50 for adults but amazing views and a historic landmark!

After climbing up ALL the stairs to the top of the lighthouse we all gathering in the area where the lens used to sit. The guide gave us a very informative talk about the lighthouse itself and then we were allowed to actually walk out onto the "widows walk" surrounding the outside. WOW! The view was amazing and we saw... More

Very well preserved light house and excellent store. Did not take the $7.50 light house tour this time. Perhaps next time around, although we've done it in the past.

This is one of the tallest light houses on the West Coast. The museum had interesting artifacts and historical photos as well as the original Fresenal (?) 1 light used in the lighthouse. The coast guard has replaced it with a smaller one. There was an impromptu "tour" of the museum, which was short, just before we went into the... More

As a photographer, I suggest bring a long lens. It is either a good morning or evening shot if the visibility is good. Try a very slow shutter speed and some soft foam..
