The preserve has several species of zebras and antelope and provides late afternoon tours when they are doing the feeding. The private preserve covers over 100 acres on the outskirts of town. Quite a strange sight to see a herd of zebra when you are driving along the road! The preserve works with zoos and wild animal parks to maintain... More

What's to say about such an unusual place? There are zebras everywhere and they take you out on an open jeep at feeding time. We have never been anywhere like it. The person taking you is the owner and shares so much information about zebras and general as well as the individual ones we are observing. More

I have nothing but compliments to Judy and Frank Mellos and what they have created at the P. Bryan Preserve. My sister, her partner and I enjoyed staying in one of the cottages which was a rare combination of truly charming, and completely comfortable. The cottage had a fuil kitchen and we took advantage of the fresh eggs available in... More

We spent a week touring the Point Arena area recently, and saw several ads for the B Bryan Preserve. Since the cost was reasonable, and we were interested in seeing the animals, we decided to take a guided tour. What an unexpected pleaseure we discovered! Judy and her husband offered us a private, guided tour of all their facilities, and... More

Zebras in Point Arena? You bet! This is a must do adventure, a private facility on 100 acres in Point Arena, committed to the preservation of African antelopes and zebras. Sign up for the 1 hour feeding tour, dress casually, bring your cameras. You will be riding in a Land Rover touring the property while the animals are being feed.... More

After reading about B Bryan Preserve in Sunset Magazine, we booked a stay from Saturday Sept. 18 to Monday Sept 20. We were myself, my husband, our 6 mos old baby, and our dog, a border terrier. Since we had the dog, we stayed at the carriage house (the only accomodation where a dog is allowed. Dogs must also be... More

We have a weekend house near Point Arena in Northern California. Whenever we have guests, we make it a point to visit the B Bryan Preserve. We love learning about the animals and seeing the wonderful work that Frank and Judy are doing. Taking the jeep ride to other parts of their ranch to feed and observe is educational and... More

In the middle of nowhere--Point Arena (population around 500)--and in the cool fogbelt along the Mendocino coast, is a globally important African game preserve, including 3 types of antelopes (kudu, sable and roan) and two types of zebras (Grevy's zebras and mountain zebras). Giraffes are coming next. The proprietors, Frank and Judy Mello, appear to be passionate African animal lovers... More

My husband & I made reservations to visit the preserve on Sunday, July 18th. I wasn't sure what to expect. We followed the directions to the preserve, not quite sure if we were in the right place. We were afraid we had entered private property, since they do not post a sign out front, nor give an address in the... More
