El Dorado offers, both snow skiing and water skiing. Hiking abounds, try Horsetail falls or Angora Lakes trail hikes. More

A great place to go for camping and picnics. Lots of side roads and lakes, streams and resort areas. Great trip up Hwy 50 to Tahoe about an hour away from Placerville. More

I just moved to the area and also just started my marathon training so I was in search of a good running trail. The Cedar Park trailhead takes joggers and walkers around a mile-long loop through aromatic sequoias. Refreshing and well-maintained. More

This 'forest' has so much to offer it is unreal. And I've only done in- and-out day trips with kids. BEST PLACE is Silver Fork river off Silver Fork Road, 1 mile east of Silver Fork town/ gas station turn right (south) on Silver Fork Road. Wind back 2-3 miles to campground and free day use area. Awesome beach area... More

Traveling through Placerville to South Lake Tahoe you pass through parts of the ELDORADO NATIONAL FOREST on Highway 50. The views and magnificent trees will amaze. If you choose to take a side trip to many of the beautiful well kept lakes and reservoirs, you'll not be disappointed. Camp grounds can be found around the lakes and are well maintained... More

On your way up to Tahoe? Enjoy the drive as much - if not more - than Tahoe itself! Take your time and explore the side roads and trails... Simply California at its best! WONDERFUL! More
