We got to see a large school of bait fish being pounced on by Grey Whales right off the pier. Plus two young chuckleheads jumped off the pier in their surf shorts. (illegal but fun.) A nice church group goes there and sings songs on Tues evenings. Don't miss the Farmer's Market on Wednesday at 3pm.

The pier area, and beach boardwalk are one of our favorite stress relievers any time of the week. there's something about the ocean air and sunshine that is so relaxing and rejuvenating. Weekends and evenings during peak season offer challenges for parking, so you may need to walk a few blocks to get to the pier entrance. Locals know that... More

We stopped by on our way to San Francisco from Ventura. Got to see the beach it has a small playground for kids. It was summer time for the kids we saw kids playing beach volleyball, making sand castles or swimming. Strolled around the boardwalk for the different shops. The pier is a few meters walk till the end. The... More

I recently stopped in Pismo Beach and took a stroll along the pier. The pier is very much a basic pier with not much on it but the views are stunning. As you look to either side of it, you'll see beautiful parts of the coastline. Great place to snap a few selfies. There are lots of cute shops too... More

I honestly love pismo. Due to the fact it's not so far from the Valley. I love the fact you can either take your own ice chest and eat. Or go somewhere at a walking distance and eat. The beach isn't dirty. It is packed by lots of people. So take an umbrella if you don't like the sun. They... More

Older beach town in mid California. Pretty but so-so. I found nearby Avila Beach more attractive. Has many restaurants and ice cream spots. The drying algae creates a special "ambiance" with distinctive smells and very aggressive territorial little flies. The flies kept me from laying down, so I had a pleasant walk instead.

What a sight this time! We always venture out onto the pier. This time there were many whales giving us a show to remember. You can see for miles, north & south. Friendly pelican, always waiting for his pic to be taken with him. People are catching fish along side of you too! Stop at the little shack on the... More
