The views that you get from the pier are beautiful. There's not much one can do , but just take a walk and enjoy the beach

We ran to the pier from our hotel. Once there, it was a nice stroll to the end of the pier, enjoy the view, look for sea creatures, take some pictures and head back. No remarkable shops along the pier unless you want imported tchotchke. Typical, grungy, local pier-dwellers up and about pretty early.

Nice view and place to take pictures. Also enjoy walking the pier and sitting on the benches for a while to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Nice views from the end of Pismo Pier, and wonderful birds to watch. Some people seemed to catch a fish or two.

From the pier you can see, sand dunes to the distance on one side, cliffs and coves on the other, along with the sandy beaches and the town itself. Good place just to take in the view, but parking can be hectic. Try to find street parking and walk a little. I would recommend going to Dinosaur Cave/Margo Dodd Park... More

Liked watching the many board surfers and body surfers. Also chatting with local fisherman. Stores around pier are the usual tourist shopping. Does look like some other shopping opening soon.

Large beach, very clean, with great scenery. Stopped there after lunch. Plenty of great places to eat and shop just steps away from the beach.

The pier itself is a standard pier. It's wooden and windy at the end. However, the views from the pier are fantastic. It's a nice stroll along the strand and then along the pier. There are restaurants and bars nearby with great ocean views. Pismo is a very safe, walkable town with many options for food and drink.

We spotted what the locals said were Blue Whales from the pier, as well as seals catching fish, sea otters and a friendly pelican. The day before, the whales were like 50M from the pier, though about 200M when we watched them blowing and diving.

Still, if you're in the area, why not take a stroll on the pier? We came by after an average and slightly disappointing meal at the Splash Cafe and found the pier deserted (it was very cold, windy, and wet from rain) but still a bit interesting. Many of the shops seemed the usual tourists traps and many places seemed... More
