Good view of the ocean with outside and inside showers. Fun to watch seals under pier keeping up with the fishermen, as well as watch the surfers. Not much of any surf. Beach smelled.

This pier affords a nice view of the coastline. It is old and rickety though, so watch your step! It is a gathering place for many homeless people.

This pier is more than a hundred years old, and you can contemplate all that history as you walk out from the beach over the water. My daughter spent most of her time taking photos of the birds. I admired the soft, white beach, with the town and the hills rising behind. There were also noticeable fish in the water.... More

I liked the simplicity of the pier, and that a snack/rod rental place is located directly on the pier.

What I liked about the pier is the amount of families present. Althought, it was crowded, it was still family friendly. I would have no problem with my kids hanging out there.

Much smaller than Manhattan Beach Pier or Pier 49 in SF or even beachfront in Santa Barbara or Santa Cruz or Capitola. It has bowling alley, pool tables, and places to eat, but better restaurants are actually off the Pier (check yelp ratings). Pismo Pier is not small enough to be quaint like places in Mendocino or Marin (small coastal... More

The pier - or rather just below it, when the sun goes down of an evening is beautiful. And there's the surfers to watch too.

Based on all the nice things people wrote about Pismo beach and pier we decided to make a trip down there. We got there fairly early in the morning and couldnt figure out where did the "nice place" from the reviews go. :) The pier was so filthy, totally covered with bird poopoos. We couldnt even sit on a bench... More

The good news is it's up pretty high so even if the big tsunami hits, you're probably okay. It's got fairly wide planks of wood, but you won't want to walk on it in heels or anything. It's just okay, frankly (I live where there are piers, so I wasn't that impressed.) Plus the area nearby isn't all that great... More
