This dog friendly beach is often ranked as one of the best beaches in California, I can definitely see why. We stopped at numerous beaches on our Pacific Coast Highway drive and this was one of our favourites. On the pier, you can rent fishing rods and fish on the pier. Don't pay $20 for parking. There is free parking... More

Many fisherman and pelicans at Pismo Pier. Fun to watch the pelicans dive for fish. This is a nice place to stop if you are traveling along the PCH. It's a tourist town, but it's not tacky, quite clean. You can also spend time watching the surfers. Fun little place.

Lots of fishermen, birds, swimmers, surfers, and people to watch. Beautiful vistas of the beach and mountains of Pismo. Dress warmly - the ocean breezes can be brisk. Central to most everything in Pismo.

The pier is always fun! Great views to the south and north. When the waves are on watching the surfing is great, you're right on top of the take off spot for the south side rights! Good view of sea otters(all day) dolphins(morning) and humpback whales(summer) It's fun and free.

Nice walk out a long well maintained pier. Beautiful view of the surf and surfers. Watch for the apparent resident brown pelican he hangs out at the end of the pier. Great photo op.

I was driving down the 101 fwy heading back to Southern California and decided to stop in Pismo Beach to allow family to unwind...ended up staying there for 4 hours! Place was great and not crowed at all compared to So Cal beaches. I was able to park at the beach for free and enjoy all the attractions that the... More

Probably one of the most popular beaches besides Avila beach, but much larger and less crowded. This is a great beach to walk, build a sand castle, watch the surfers etc. The dock is large and long. Fun to walk out on and watch for sea life, and take in the beautiful central coast scenery.

Nice Pier in Pismo Beach. A lot of people go out there every night where it is nice to watch one of their beautiful sunsets. But not too crowded. Maybe in the summer it gets to be crowded, but it wasn't when we were there.
