On a very rainy afternoon, my friend and I ventured into Goldeneye Winery to sample some of their fabulous Pinot Noir. Scott was beyond helpful -- knowledgeable on the wine and provided some fantastic recommendations (even a map!) of ways to improve our Andersson Valley experience overall. He sent us to Lula Winery -- the owner Dan is a riot!... More

Decided to stop here first, and it was the best experience of all wineries visited in Philo. Love how they seat you for your wine tasting experience. There is a 15.00 tasting fee that is not waived with a bottle purchase, but you can share. The grounds are lovely and Shelby was very attentive, explaining the wines and how they... More

We sat outside to enjoy our tasting, which was a nice change from bellying up to a bar indoors like everywhere else. The entire wine flight was delivered to our table along with a description of each so that we could compare and contrast each Pinot. The view of the vineyards was stunning. I could have sat there all afternoon!... More

One of a few Duckhorn properties, requires a reservation. These days I am finding I prefer reservations as more and more locations are turning into a Disney experience in that a family shows up with kids in tow in what is an adult experience. Goldeneye has some great pinots from the area. The experience is relaxed and attentive, beautiful view... More

We recently made the pilgrimage up to Philo for the opportunity to taste wine at a couple of wineries / tasting rooms. Goldeneye, being part of Duckhorn, one of our favorite wineries, was one that we decided to try. Our experience was good, but not great. We all thought that the Cheese and wine pairing that we scheduled was enjoyable,... More

We had spent the night in Mendocino and visited Anderson Valley enroute to Glen Ellen. The two excellent wineries we visited were Handley and Goldeneye. Then we stopped for sandwiches in Boonville and beer at Anderson Valley Brewing. Goldeneye has a spectacular setting and our host Doug was fantastic. There is a $15 tasting fee but it is beautifully presented... More

Wines presented on the patio while viewing the vineyards and the forest behind...blended and single vineyard wines were presented individually in separate glasses, allowing for easy comparisons and retasting...we ordered the cheese platter to augment the fine wines...winery is part of the Duckhorn family of wineries...wines and setting appealed to our genteel senses

The staff took a lot of time to discuss their wine and provide some nibbles that made some great pairings with their wine. The indoor seating area is small, but comfortable and they have a patio.

Of the three winerys we stopped at, this had the nicest grounds and deck to sample wines. My friends noted that the wines are named after ducks. I enjoyed the time we doent here gazing out at the vineyards and sampling 6 wines. My favorite, but not enough to buy some, was the Migrant.

The tasting was accompanied by a well-chosen selection of cheeses, nuts, fruit, and crackers. The reasonable pours were placed on individually printed coasters that expalined, in-depth about the wines, suggested pairings, etc.
