When I was caretaking for my disabled aunt, we loved to go for walks here when the sun was out. The first half-mile (?) or so is paved, but since the entire trail is flat, if you are strong you can go further or even the entire loop on the hard-packed dirt levee. There are benches to rest or share... More

Nice two mile loop with an option to go further. Often find small school groups doing nature observations. Exposed to the elements, can walk your dog on leash, jog or bird watch

This is a peaceful walk or run out in nature close to the heart of town. The path is a flat dirt path so I am careful to avoid it after a heavy rain. I walk on Sunday mornings and its not very crowded. I've never had any issues with bugs. There are many birds to see.

Whether you are a visitor from out of town or a local resident you will find this to be a wonderful place to take a walk. The flat path allows you to choose between a leisurely stroll to a speed walk or anything in between while enjoying the views along the Petaluma River. The only downside is that parking can... More

We have been to this park many times in the past. We love it because the birds are usually pretty close and this is great for photographers. But the last time we went the place was almost completely dry. Go when it's flooded and you'll be pleasantly surprised with all the birds.

This is a great place to walk around and see the migrating birds through out the seasons. It is also a very nice place to get some exercise by walking around the whole loop.

I like walking around this bird estuary. It's basically one big round loop with water outside and drying up on the inside. It's flat and safe and you may bring your dog as long as its on a leash and you clean up after him. Because of the drought it has some smelly issues in one part but it passes... More

Shollenberger Park is a little treasure along the Petaluma River. Because of the current lack of water, there is currently not as much water in the wetlands as in a normal year. But usually the wetlands are home to a large variety of ducks and birds. There is a contained circular trail in addition to longer off shoot trails. The... More
