I know, it is a park and what do you expect from a park? Well there are numerous people out there for the same reasons you are, to take a stroll or a bike ride in the fresh air along the river. You get to see some wildlife and fowl along the way as well as river kayakers. Always something... More

Easy 2 mile walk primarily dirt with some paved areas. Borders on the Petaluma river and a wetlands area so there's usually plenty of waterfowl present. Very nice for walking the dog

Been going to Shollenberger park for well over 15 years - started when there was just a porta-potty and small parking area. Times change - a permanent and clean restroom was erected and is well maintained. It has running water, locking doors and a flush-able toilet with paper provided. The main trail around the park is an estimated 2 mile,... More

This is the best walking trail of 2miles with lots of water fowl. Bike, run or walk with parking. Great place to walk during lunch hour.

Been here several times. A little hard to find the first couple of times. Mostly a walking place - not very much scenery. But at the far end of the park, it borders the Petaluma river. That is a nice place to stop.

The park is conveniently close to downtown Petaluma, just off Hwy 101, and offers a relaxing, well laid-out two-mile (or so) trail through some beautiful wetlands. The area is filled with wildlife, lots of waterfowl of course, but on our last visit the California drought was taking its toll. The wetlands have definitely shrunk, but they're still worth a look... The surroundings along the river are very nice. It makes for a great place to walk or jog. There is an abundance of wildlife, especially birds of many types. The walking paths could use some upgrading as could the bathrooms. Also, the parking lot is way to small to accommodate the volume of guests

Walking he path which runs along the river at sundown is all you need for a peaceful brain cleaner. You will see birds, bugs, flying about. The river looks its best at sunset. It's a nice hour long walk.

Petaluma is blessed to have a gem like Shollenberger Park. The park is a 2 mile loop through wetlands and along the edge of the Petaluma River. There are always lots of birds and the area can look different from one visit to another depending on the time of year and how much water is in the middle. It's a... More
