An OK-enough experience that my family and visitors have been there a few times - partly for no other reason than to support our local, underfunded parks. A few BBQ grills in the Gazebo/playground area. Flush toilets. Usually very dry. Some steep hills. Very little fauna. Fairly scenic with some decent overlooks. The Regional Park oversight doesn't seem to be... More

After a morning business meeting and a wonderful but filling lunch on wonderful Mexican food, my wife and I wanted to spend a little time walking off the calories and enjoying some peace and quiet. Helen Putman park really worked for us. It's a quick (<10 min drive from downtown Petaluma). Parking fee is $7 and can be paid with... More

I absolutely love Helen Putnam Park. It is so incredible to have this gorgeous open nature, with a ton of great different trails, right on the edge of town! A quick 10 minute drive from my house, and you're engulfed in nature....gorgeous rolling hills, oak trees, tall golden grasses, birds, lizards, sunshine....it's amazing. I make a point to go there... The variety of hiking and walking trails is pretty extensive, from short, relatively flat strolls, to longer up and down climbs. The path options are clearly displayed on a map at the trailhead by the parking lot, and each trail is clearly marked along the way. The scenery is beautiful. The parking is not free, but is very reasonable, and... More

This is a local park/open space area in Petaluma. You can access the park from the Victoria Subdivision or on your way out of town on "D" St. There are many trials and one main paved path. If you want the best views you have to get off the main path and go to the top of the hill. There... More

Helen Putnam Park is one of Petaluma's best un-kept secrets. The hike is easy but beautiful. One way will take you past a small pond. You are likely to see wild flowers, animals, and friendly doggies on a walk with their people. It is almost never busy but all the locals end up there at least once a year it seems.... More

Good hike but a bit difficult to find. We walked from downtown which was a long trip. Lot's of dog walkers and joggers. Used by locals. Lovely view from the top.

Helen Putnam is a pretty park, with uphill if you want it and flat if you don't. There are a couple of places that offer a bit of a hill to get your heart rate going or you can just stay on the flatter areas if you want to stroll. Beautiful views of the hillside, lots of trees, a little... More

Love HPP. It is a great place for a hike. People of all ages and skill levels can be found here. You can run or walk the trails which is nice. Great for taking kids to on a field trip.
