Very nice park with rolling trails and lots of shade. Close to the city as well. Like the little pond nestled in the site as well. Used by equestrians as well. There is a bathroom near the parking lot. But my main message is be aware that there is a $7 parking charge for day use. Not a huge amount... More

I moved to Petaluma a few years ago from Marin and missed the great hiking trails. I adopted a dog soon after moving to Petaluma and started looking for good places to take him, this is one of my favorites. It's not large, but you can do a few loops and take more time. There are a couple of good... More

Helen Putnam Park is open space on the rolling hills just west of Petaluma. This is a lovely, safe place to enjoy easy hiking. It is hard to believe it is so close to a city.

Great trail system and great views! You can hike short, or long - not too bike friendly - it would be very technical. Just be wary of poison oak - its everywhere.

This place gives plenty of space for hikers with many views from the top of the hill. Several places for a nice picnic.

Great regional park for dog-walking , running or strolling. Beautiful views of green rolling hills (or golden...depending on the time of year you are there), for as far as you can see. Lots of trail choices as well as a paved trail which leads to a pond (doggie swimming hole.)

If you're a country girl stuck in the city (like me) you might need a Dixie Chick moment — Wide Open Spaces, that is. Helen Putnam Park is the perfect respite from the real world that is full of noise, traffic and just plain weirdos. The park offers a trail system that loops up offering a view of Petaluma below... Helen Putnam Park has something for everyone. Near the entrance is a great play area for little ones as well as restrooms. From there you can take several trails in the park, all of which are well marked and some are paved at least some of the way. Take the obvious uphill ones for a wonderful view of Petaluma towards... Nestled in the hills of western Petaluma is this gem of a park. As you enter there is a play ground a nicely designed park and eating area nestled below the road. But the real beauty can be found on the many and varied hiking trails. I am a frequent visitor and the beauty of the land and the relatively... More
